Look around.

Someone has already done something you once thought impossible.

That should tell you something.

YES…IT CAN BE DONE.

This applies to almost everyone and almost every subject.

The question of whether you WANT to do it…

or WHY you want to do it…

is another matter.

But human beings have demonstrated again and again that our reach can extend far beyond where we started.

Especially when desire meets effort.

America has long been called the land of opportunity.

Opportunity does not mean somebody hands you the result.

It means there is room to TRY.

Room to build.

Room to learn.

Room to fail.

Room to get back up.

And room to go farther than the boundaries somebody else assigned to you.

NO EXCUSES…BUT THEY WILL COME

There are plenty of forces in this world that will not encourage this kind of thinking.

Some will tell you:

“That is too difficult.”

“You are too old.”

“You are too young.”

“You don’t know enough.”

“You don’t have enough money.”

“You don’t have the right connections.”

“You tried before.”

And then comes the most convincing voice of all.

YOUR OWN.

That one knows exactly which buttons to push.

PAUSE FOR CAUSE.

You have to go down inside yourself and locate the WANT TO.

Then protect it.

Feed it.

Work it.

And practice becoming relentless enough to bring something into existence that was once only an idea.

Excuses are not invited.

But believe me…

they will show up anyway.

LOOK AROUND TO SEE WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE

You pass successful businesses every day.

Next time you do…

give some thought to where they started.

They did not always have:

the sign,

the employees,

the customers,

the systems,

the buildings,

the reputation.

Most of them began somewhere much smaller.

Someone had an idea.

Then someone ACTED on it.

Take Colonel Harland Sanders.

His chicken business did not begin as the giant operation recognized around the world today.

It grew from years of cooking, selling, refining and eventually promoting a method and recipe to restaurants.

Think about the lesson.

Before the success became obvious…

somebody had to keep presenting the idea.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Doors close.

Keep moving.

Somebody says no.

Go to the next one.

Agents…

are you listening?

LOL.

IS HE SELLING COUGH DROPS?

Picture the scene.

Here comes this distinctive-looking fellow with his white suit and goatee talking about fried chicken.

Imagine hearing the proposition before anybody knew what KFC would eventually become.

You might think:

Who IS this guy?

But somebody listened.

Then somebody else.

Then another.

That is how many things grow.

One person sees possibility before the rest of the world sees proof.

Eventually…

proof catches up.

WHAT A GOOD NEIGHBOR TO HAVE…MMM YUMMY

Cookie businesses provide the same kind of lesson.

A person can begin with a simple gift:

BAKING.

Someone tastes the cookies.

They like them.

They tell somebody else.

Demand appears.

The hobby gets bigger.

The kitchen gets busier.

Eventually the question becomes:

Could this become a BUSINESS?

That is how talents begin spilling into opportunity.

A gift that once lived quietly inside someone…

gets PUT INTO USE.

Then it grows.

That should sound familiar.

It is the Pearls process.

Small pearl.

Use it.

Develop it.

Let it grow.

Then one day…

what was inside you begins producing something much larger outside you.

WHAT’S THE POINT?…WHAT AM I DRIVING AT?

Success stories are everywhere.

Not because everybody succeeds at everything.

They don’t.

Not because every dream automatically comes true.

It doesn’t.

But because the evidence is overwhelming that people repeatedly do things that somebody else once declared impossible.

WHAT ONE CAN DO…

ANOTHER CAN LEARN FROM.

ANOTHER CAN ATTEMPT.

ANOTHER CAN ADAPT.

ANOTHER CAN BUILD UPON.

That matters.

Be very wary of what I call the ANTI-SUCCESS forces.

They often arrive before success does.

First:

your doubts.

Then somebody else comes along and agrees with them.

“There you go.”

“Told you.”

“It can’t be done.”

Do not confuse somebody else’s fear with evidence.

OBSTACLES ARE NOT ALWAYS A STOP SIGN

Obstacles are part of almost every worthwhile undertaking.

But I would modify one thought here.

An obstacle does not automatically prove that an idea is good.

Sometimes an obstacle is warning you.

Sometimes it is correcting you.

Sometimes it is telling you the plan needs work.

And sometimes…

YES…

it is simply resistance standing between you and the next level.

Your job is to determine which one you are looking at.

That is where judgment enters.

Do not obey every obstacle.

STUDY IT.

Ask:

Can I go over it?

Around it?

Through it?

Do I need another route?

Do I need more knowledge?

More money?

More skill?

More patience?

Maybe the obstacle is not saying:

STOP.

Maybe it is saying:

GET BETTER.

CLOSE THE GAP

Once you know the direction is sound…

close the gap.

Pick up your pace.

Keep learning.

Put your tools to work.

Listen to the voices of doubt…

but do not automatically OBEY them.

Notice them.

Then ask:

Is this legitimate information…

or just fear making noise?

If it is useful information…

USE IT.

If it is noise…

keep moving.

READY…STEADY…GO

You want something?

An education?

A new business?

A friendship?

A life partner?

A home?

A career change?

A trip around the world?

Fine.

Start with the first thing that can actually be done.

Make the phone call.

Fill out the application.

Open the book.

Save the first dollar.

Take the class.

Visit the property.

Ask the person.

Build the prototype.

Write the first page.

PUT LEGS ON IT.

Thinking is useful.

Movement makes the thought visible.

READY.

STEADY.

GO.

Then comes the part people forget.

KEEP GOING.

IT HOLDS…MY FRIENDS

YES.

I will say it again because plenty of voices will say otherwise.

YES…

YOU CAN BEGIN.

YES…

YOU CAN LEARN.

YES…

YOU CAN IMPROVE.

YES…

YOU CAN ATTEMPT WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE HAS ALREADY SHOWN IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

Will everybody achieve the exact same result?

Of course not.

Different people have different abilities, circumstances, resources and timing.

But someone else’s accomplishment can destroy the belief that something is automatically impossible.

It gives you evidence.

A human being did it.

Now the question becomes:

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH YOUR VERSION OF IT?

RICHIE SPEAKS

Here is one Richie rule:

Do not use somebody else’s success to make yourself feel smaller.

Use it as evidence that human beings can do remarkable things.

Another:

The first person who tells you it cannot be done may be living inside your own head.

And one more:

You do not have to copy somebody else’s path.

You only need enough courage to begin yours.

PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS

From the spirit of Pearls for the Soul:

“What another person accomplishes can become evidence that possibility exists.”

From the spirit of God I AM:

“What has been placed within you becomes visible when belief accepts the responsibility to act.”

From the spirit of It Is Finished:

“Leave behind the old conclusion that you cannot begin simply because you have not begun before.”

PEARLS INSIGHT

Other people’s achievements can expand our sense of what is possible, but inspiration works best when it becomes practical action.

Success usually requires more than positive thinking.

It involves skill, repetition, adaptability, persistence, feedback and realistic judgment.

The useful lesson is not:

“If they did it, I am guaranteed the same result.”

The useful lesson is:

“If a human being has done it, I can study what made it possible and begin developing my own path.”

PEARLS CONNECTION

This connects directly with THE LEARNING CURVE.

Nobody begins as the finished product.

It also connects with ACTION PLANS REQUIRE MOVING WITH A PURPOSE.

Possibility becomes meaningful when movement begins.

And FARMER ASKS: WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THIS FIELD? reminds us that what we want to reap eventually has to be planted, worked and developed.

FINAL SAY

Look around.

What do you see?

Businesses.

Homes.

Books.

Inventions.

Degrees.

Relationships.

Careers.

Journeys.

Every one of them began somewhere.

Usually smaller than the finished thing.

Somebody started.

Somebody struggled.

Somebody heard NO.

Somebody doubted.

Somebody adjusted.

Somebody kept going.

And eventually…

there it was.

So when the voice says:

IT CAN’T BE DONE…

do not argue with it all day.

Find evidence.

Study somebody who did it.

Then turn back toward your own life.

READY.

STEADY.

GO.

And keep going.

Because what one human being can do may not guarantee what another will accomplish…

but it certainly gives the rest of us a very good reason to stop saying:

IMPOSSIBLE.
