I have seen ethics stretched like taffy as I traveled through the Real Estate industry over the years. I have seen it up close and from a distance too. Wherever there are large sums of money to be made or handled, human nature is put on notice. Either we help steward it along or help ourselves to it and get stewed!
EVERYONE GETS CAUGHT INSTANTLY
The minute someone crosses over into the dark realms of doing or getting something at all costs, they have been caught right there and then. Whether or not it becomes public is another matter. But the error is instantly revealed within the self. Conscience activates like it or not.
DENIAL WORKS… BUT DOESN’T HOLD
Human beings know right from wrong. They pretend otherwise using denial, but it doesn’t hold. Trying to make wrong appear gray or explainable requires so much energy and maintenance that eventually it becomes self-evident. Too much defending usually means something inside already knows.
TO AND FRO THIS LITTLE EVIL GOES
The battle takes place within the self. Temptation is presented and, if one dwells on it, permission is granted for it to come closer and stronger. If one sees it and dismisses it, it moves on looking for someone else to deceive. Good riddance.
THIS IS POWERFUL STUFF
There isn’t one person I know who, after being trapped in their own web of intrigue and nonsense, doesn’t regret the whole fiasco afterward. The jails, courts, hospitals, and broken homes are full of people who lost the battle in the moment and now must answer to it later.
GO YOUR WAY… I’LL GO MINE
I have met unethical people in many different situations and they are not pleasant to be around. Oil and water do not mix. We both understand this quickly and move on. I do not judge anyone for dabbling in darkness — I simply monitor my own conduct carefully.
I WOULD NEVER DO THAT?
There is a subtle little test that surprises people. Many say they would never do this or that, but they have never actually been tested. The real test is exposure to temptation, feeling the pull of it, and then choosing to walk away anyway.
QUICK, EASY & FAST
What keeps ethics in the spotlight is how easy it is to cross over and tell yourself nobody will ever know. But if YOU know, then the lie is already exposed. If one remains centered, they will recognize this immediately.
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS OUR TRUE DEFAULT
Morality should not even require explanation. We were designed to know the good naturally. The defect needs explanation — not the truth. Thankfully many are redeemed because they finally see things clearly and choose wisely.
STAND YOUR GROUND
The moral dilemma respects no person, profession, gender, or status. It visits everyone eventually. Consider this post encouragement to strengthen your ethical posture and character before the moment arrives.
CHOICE VISITS OFTEN
There are those who may avoid great misfortune simply because someone warned them ahead of time. May this be that warning for someone. We always have a choice before the harvest comes.
