Years ago I watched an old locksmith restore a lock that everyone else believed was beyond repair.
He never forced it.
He simply understood how it was designed to work.
Eventually the lock quietly opened.
Standing there, I realized our hearts are much the same.
Many people spend years trying to force peace.
Trying to force happiness.
Trying to force healing.
Yet one key is often missing.
Forgiveness.
Not because what happened didn’t matter.
It mattered deeply.
Not because justice isn’t important.
It is.
But because resentment quietly locks the very heart it hopes to protect.
THE KEY YOU ALREADY HOLD
Forgiveness doesn’t rewrite yesterday.
It releases tomorrow.
It doesn’t always restore every relationship.
But it almost always restores the person who chooses it.
The prison door often swings open from the inside.
Grace gives us the courage to turn the key.
Healing begins the moment we do.

Perhaps it’s time to hand that burden to God.

Forgive one old offense.
