While we live our small daily lives…
something much bigger
is happening around us
at the very same time.

BIG and LITTLE LIFE PICTURE
As individuals go about their daily business living their lives, this is as it should be.
This little self-contained unit called “you” has events appear on its radar and they become our focus for a short period of time.
We address them, wrap things up, power down and settle in.
One more day spent…
and perhaps another promise waiting quietly in the wings for tomorrow.
THE BIG PICTURE TOO
This is a fascinating subject.
While we are living the microcosm — the smaller aspects of our private worlds — we are simultaneously part of a much bigger picture involving countless others and many unseen dynamics too.
The mystery of what lies out there and the rewards waiting beyond our immediate awareness continue calling to us through life itself.
THE CYCLES
To better make the point, it is like a 30-year mortgage.
Starting one requires labor, sacrifice, commitment and investment.
Then during all those years — and we are talking decades here — one must remain faithful to what was started.
Finally, the close and payoff arrive.
Literally.
Life works much the same way.
CHOICES
The premise is that before, during and after, your investment and involvement in life choices were put to good use.
Time well spent being productive and rewarding according to what you understood at the time.
This is our part:
To receive what life offers…
as chosen by us.
HEALTH INVESTMENT
Larger time moves slower than our daily routines, but it is still moving and it requires maintenance and attention.
Making investments in both the big and little picture is wisdom.
Health is one of the greatest examples of this “now and later” dynamic.
IT TAKES NOW AND LATER
The body adapts, rebels or conforms in long stretches of time — often in decades.
If something harmful is done long enough, even after awareness arrives, it may still take years for the body to recover and reprogram itself.
Likewise, if something beneficial is practiced consistently, it continues developing into greater potential over time.
You decide what stays or goes through awareness, feedback and attention to self.
MORE GOING ON
There is always more happening within anyone’s sphere of influence than they could possibly imagine or fully process.
There are dynamics beyond the naked eye.
Colors beyond visible sight.
Sounds beyond hearing.
Forces continually at work sustaining existence itself.
They do not need us…
but we absolutely need them.
LOTS GOING ON
We are designed to automatically absorb what is presented before us.
Yet we are also given a certain freedom to add to or subtract from those life experiences.
Still, at no point can we fully monitor, absorb or comprehend all that is truly taking place around us.
It remains impossible.
But deep within, we know there is always more happening than the eye, ear or even mind can fully conceive.
SHARING
With the smaller and more intimate aspects of life, we are allowed to participate creatively.
We can turn experiences up or down and shape them as we see fit.
We share ours with others and they share theirs with us.
This exchange makes life deeply personal, unusual and beautiful.
We can compliment one another…
or interfere with one another.
Sometimes both.
MATURITY
After a few decades under your belt, something begins changing.
You slow down.
You begin appreciating quality over noise.
Life becomes more intimate and satisfying if you allow it.
As we learn how to properly steward the daily comings and goings, they begin complimenting the bigger picture too.
Harmony has rewards.
LIFE & DEATH
Life is an investment in many ways.
Each day given pays you simply by allowing you to be here.
It even prompts you to continue, almost like a ping-pong game where the ball keeps getting returned.
At some point though…
the game ends.
We call it life.
And then we call it…
death.
PAY ATTENTION
Before it ends, can you honestly say you showed proper respect for this incredible dynamic called life?
The moment allows us to participate in both the micro and macro at the same time.
This is what a full life looks like:
Learning the give-and-take principles.
Learning to slow down.
Learning to finally pay attention.
IT WAS GIVEN… NOW GIVE IT BACK
Now who can arrange for all this to take place continuously…
for every single person…
without the asking…
reliably and without fail…
whether deserved or not?
And ask for nothing in return except that what was given be used wisely?
That is how we repay the Giver of all things.
Use it wisely.
Then…
give generously.
