You matter more than you realize.
Your role is bigger than you can see.
And simply being here
is already part of the plan.
PONDER AND REFLECT ON THE ROLES IN LIFE
Role is defined as the part or function played in any given situation.
That definition applies to far more than human beings.
All of life plays a role.
Some roles are obvious.
Others go unnoticed.
Some are grand and visible.
Others are quiet and hidden.
Yet all remain essential.
The question is not whether you have a role.
The question is whether you recognize it.
And yes, you have more than one.
LOTS GOING ON
We live in a world so vast and complex that no single person can fully comprehend it.
And I am not speaking only of what we can see.
Everything has a place.
Everything has a design.
Everything is fitted into a larger picture while simultaneously fulfilling smaller but vital purposes within its own sphere of influence.
Nothing stands alone.
Everything contributes.
INVITATION
Be assured of something profound.
Life is not random.
The opportunities, relationships, challenges and circumstances that appear before us are invitations.
They unfold.
They develop.
They reveal their purpose over time.
And while they do, we are invited to participate.
Not merely observe.
Not merely exist.
But to engage.
What a wondrous thought.
MOVING WITH PURPOSE
Even things that appear inactive influence us.
A mountain inspires.
A sunset calms.
A tree provides shade.
Silence teaches.
How much more powerful is something when it actively fulfills its purpose?
How much greater is the effect when a person chooses to do the same?
I am speaking of life.
And I am speaking of you.
DO SOMETHING
Simply by being here, you are already affecting the world around you.
Every word.
Every action.
Every kindness.
Every decision.
Every omission.
Everything contributes to the unfolding story of life.
You possess the power to improve circumstances.
To encourage.
To build.
To heal.
Or sadly…
to do nothing at all.
Doing nothing is still a choice.
BEGIN
Many people mistakenly believe they must do something enormous to matter.
That is not how life works.
Everything begins small.
A seed.
A thought.
A conversation.
A decision.
A first step.
Growth takes over from there.
Too much thinking often applies brakes to doing.
Begin where you are.
Start small.
Allow the rest to unfold.
THE CREATOR
There is a power at work that exceeds our ability to fully understand.
We may not comprehend creation completely.
But we can certainly observe it.
Creation must exist before another creation can notice it.
That alone raises a fascinating question:
Who is creating all this?
There is a Source.
And whether acknowledged or not, every living thing remains connected to it.
You would not be here otherwise.
Neither would I.
CAUSE AND EFFECT
If you are here, then you are a cause.
Your presence creates effects.
Your choices create effects.
Your attitude creates effects.
Your participation creates effects.
You can increase those effects.
Reduce them.
Direct them.
Or ignore them.
But you cannot escape them.
Life responds.
YOU ARE PAID OFF
One of the most beautiful realities of life is that participation rewards the participant.
When you activate your role, something happens within.
A satisfaction.
A sense of meaning.
A quiet approval.
It feels good to be alive.
Even before reaching your full potential.
That feeling is evidence of life itself at work within you.
The breath of God, if you will.
A force compelling us to live fully rather than merely survive.
MORE IS GIVEN
An interesting thing happens when we use what has been given.
More is given.
The gift expands through use.
Purpose reveals more purpose.
Movement creates more movement.
Contribution creates more opportunity.
Life replenishes itself through participation.
No contribution is insignificant.
A small act may create consequences far beyond what we ever see.
It was designed that way.
PLANNING INCLUDED YOU
You do make a difference.
Your existence was not overlooked.
You were expected.
Included.
Accounted for.
Prepared for.
The fruit tree does not question whether it matters.
It simply cooperates with the seasons.
And fruit appears.
Perhaps our role is not much different.
Cooperate with life.
Participate fully.
Allow the fruit to appear.
GIVE BACK WHAT WAS GIVEN
Who notices a single fruit tree growing on the far side of the world?
Very few.
Yet it fulfills its purpose anyway.
It participates in the ongoing miracle of life.
The value is not diminished because it goes unnoticed.
Failure to participate removes it from the process.
The choice becomes obvious.
MANKIND
How much greater then is mankind?
What possibilities exist within those made capable of reflection, imagination, creativity and love?
The wonders that can be accomplished simply by living fully are beyond calculation.
Perhaps our greatest responsibility is not to exist.
It is to live.
And by living well, we give back what was so freely given.
As one of the Pearls reminds us:
“Life itself is the gift. What we do with it becomes our offering.” That truth echoes throughout every meaningful journey.
