ONE GOES ON…
THE OTHER STAYS HERE
Most people spend their lives pursuing wealth.
Few stop long enough to ask:
Which wealth?

The kind that fills your pockets…
Or the kind that fills your soul?
By now we have all seen it.
Money comes.
Money goes.
Paychecks arrive.
Bills get paid.
Things are bought.
Things wear out.
Then the cycle starts all over again.
There is nothing wrong with money.
The problem begins when money stops being a tool and starts becoming a master.
MONEY IS NECESSARY…
LOVING IT IS NOT
Money is useful.
Money builds homes.
Feeds families.
Creates businesses.
Funds education.
Helps the poor.
Supports worthy causes.
Money itself is not the problem.
The problem begins when people place their trust in it.
Money has no loyalty.
It stays with no one forever.
It is no respecter of persons.
It belongs to whoever holds it at the moment.
Yet people will lie for it.
Cheat for it.
Steal for it.
Betray for it.
And sometimes even kill for it.
That should tell us something.
The issue is not money.
The issue is what happens to the human heart around it.
YELLOW ROCK MAKES WHITE MAN SICK
The Native Americans observed something fascinating.
Gold meant very little to them.
It was simply an unusual rock.
Interesting perhaps.
Pretty even.
But not worthy of obsession.
Then they watched what happened when others discovered it.
Friendships ended.
Promises vanished.
Families fought.
Men abandoned reason.
The old saying emerged:
“Yellow rock makes white man sick.”
Perhaps the sickness was never the gold.
Perhaps it was the greed.
WHERE DO YOU PLACE YOUR TRUST?
I have met wealthy people who were miserable.
I have met poor people who were rich.
Think about that for a moment.
One possessed abundance externally.
The other possessed abundance internally.
One had money.
The other had peace.
One had possessions.
The other had gratitude.
One had assets.
The other had contentment.
Which one was truly wealthy?
That is a question worth pondering.
THE PURPOSE OF WEALTH
Money was never meant to be the destination.
It was meant to be transportation.
A tool.
A servant.
A means.
Not an end.
One of the reasons scholarships, grants, and foundations exist is because money can free someone to pursue something greater than money.
Education.
Research.
Art.
Medicine.
Service.
Purpose.
Money reaches its highest form when it helps people become more than they otherwise could have become.
THE BILLIONAIRE QUESTION
What exactly is a billionaire?
The world celebrates the title.
But I often wonder.
How much is enough?
At what point does accumulation stop serving life and start consuming it?
The danger of wealth is not possessing it.
The danger is becoming possessed by it.
Greed rarely announces itself.
It sneaks in quietly.
One more deal.
One more purchase.
One more achievement.
One more account.
One more acquisition.
Then suddenly a person wakes up and discovers they have spent their life chasing things that cannot love them back.
THE GREAT BOUNDARY
Every human being eventually encounters the same boundary.
The finish line.
The departure gate.
The end of the earthly journey.
At that moment something becomes painfully obvious.
Nothing material crosses that boundary.
Not houses.
Not boats.
Not jewelry.
Not titles.
Not bank accounts.
Not trophies.
Not stock portfolios.
Ten cents or ten million
Everything stays.
Everything.
Except one thing.
YOUR CHARACTER GOES WITH YOU
Your character travels.
Your motives travel.
Your integrity travels.
Your compassion travels.
Your kindness travels.
Your generosity travels.
Your faith travels.
Your love travels.
These are the treasures that neither moth nor rust can destroy.
No thief can steal them.
No market crash can diminish them.
No recession can touch them.
No inflation can devalue them.
INNER WEALTH
I have learned that the richest people I know possess certain qualities.
They are grateful.
They are generous.
They are forgiving.
They are curious.
They are peaceful.
They are humble.
They are willing to help.
They understand that life itself is a gift.
These people often sleep very well at night.
WHY?
Because their wealth is stored in a place where loss cannot reach it.
PEARLS TO PONDER
“Everything you need to know is already within you.”
“The greatest treasure you will ever discover is another human being.”
“The purpose of life is to discover the purpose of life.”
“We were not put here to be defeated.”
“When you feed the soul, you feed everything.”
And perhaps the most fitting Pearl of all:
“The only thing you truly own is what you become.”
WHAT THEN?
Earn money.
Work hard.
Build wisely.
Save responsibly.
Enjoy the rewards of your labor.
But do not confuse wealth with worth.
Do not mistake possessions for purpose.
Do not trade your character for currency.
Do not spend your entire life accumulating things while neglecting the person who is accumulating them.
At the end of the journey, one wealth remains.
The wealth within.
The wealth of your character.
The wealth of your spirit.
The wealth of your heart.
Everything else stays here.
