“I’ll be happy when…”
Four of the most dangerous words in the human experience.
Because for many people, happiness is always waiting at the next destination.
And never arriving.

THE MAN WHO KEPT MOVING THE GOALPOST
A man spent his entire life pursuing success.
When he was young he said:
“I’ll be happy when I graduate.”
He graduated.
Then he said:
“I’ll be happy when I get a good job.”
He got the job.
Then he said:
“I’ll be happy when I make more money.”
He made more money.
Then:
“I’ll be happy when I buy a house.”
Then:
“I’ll be happy when I retire.”
Then:
“I’ll be happy when…”
And so it went.
Year after year.
Decade after decade.
Goal after goal.
Achievement after achievement.
Yet happiness remained just beyond his reach.
Not because he failed.
Because he kept moving the goalpost.
THE ARRIVAL FALLACY
Many people unknowingly live this way.
They postpone joy.
Delay gratitude.
Suspend contentment.
They convince themselves that happiness lives somewhere in the future.
At the next promotion.
The next relationship.
The next accomplishment.
The next possession.
The next breakthrough.
Meanwhile life quietly passes by.
THE PEARLS CONNECTION
Throughout Pearls for the Soul there is a recurring truth:
Life is not found at the destination.
Life is found in the journey.
The destination may provide a moment of satisfaction.
The journey provides a lifetime of living.
If you cannot appreciate today’s blessings, tomorrow’s blessings will eventually become today’s ordinary circumstances.
And the cycle repeats itself.
THE DANGEROUS WORD
Someday.
Many dreams die there.
Many relationships die there.
Many opportunities die there.
Many moments of joy die there.
Because someday often becomes never.
The soul thrives in now.
Not someday.
Not eventually.
Not after everything is perfect.
Now.
TODAY’S MIRACLE
You woke up today.
You have breath.
You have opportunity.
You have another chance.
You have lessons.
You have possibilities.
You have people who matter.
You have moments available to you right now.
Those are treasures.
Yet many overlook them while chasing larger treasures.
The irony is often painful.
THE WISE PERSON
The wise person still sets goals.
Still grows.
Still achieves.
Still dreams.
But they refuse to postpone happiness until arrival.
They celebrate the journey.
They appreciate the progress.
They enjoy the process.
They understand something many never learn:
The goal is important.
But becoming the person capable of reaching the goal is even more important.
RICHIE SPEAKING…
Do not keep moving the goalpost.
Set goals.
Pursue excellence.
Build something meaningful.
But don’t postpone your life while doing it.
Be grateful now.
Love now.
Laugh now.
Serve now.
Live now.
Because one day you will discover something profound:
The moments you were rushing through…
were the moments that mattered most.
