I was looking at an empty chair one day.
Just a chair.
Nothing special.
Nothing remarkable.
Nothing extraordinary.
Yet it spoke volumes.
Someone once sat there.
Someone laughed there.
Someone cried there.
Someone shared dreams there.
Someone told stories there.
Someone loved there.
Now it sat empty.
And suddenly I realized that life is filled with empty chairs.

Parents leave.
Grandparents leave.
Friends leave.
Neighbors leave.
Coworkers leave.
Even we ourselves will one day leave.
The chair remains.
