Many people spend years worrying about bridges they haven’t reached.
Crossing rivers that don’t exist.
Fighting battles that haven’t happened.
Meanwhile, today’s blessings quietly wait to be noticed.

THE BRIDGE YOU HAVEN’T CROSSED YET
A traveler approached a long road that wound through valleys, forests, and mountains.
As he walked, he became increasingly worried.
“What if the bridge ahead is weak?”
“What if the river is too deep?”
“What if the storm arrives?”
“What if I fail?”
The questions multiplied.
The fears multiplied.
The worries multiplied.
Soon he was exhausted.
Not from traveling.
From imagining.
Then he met an old guide sitting beside the road.
The guide listened patiently and asked:
“Have you reached the bridge yet?”
“No.”
“Have you seen the river yet?”
“No.”
“Has the storm arrived yet?”
“No.”
The guide smiled.
“Then why are you carrying tomorrow’s problems today?”
THE HUMAN HABIT
Many people become experts at worrying.
They rehearse disasters.
Predict failure.
Imagine rejection.
Forecast difficulties.
Prepare for storms that never arrive.
And in doing so, they sacrifice the peace available in this moment.
THE PEARLS CONNECTION
Throughout Pearls for the Soul there runs a simple truth:
Life is best lived one day at a time.
Not because tomorrow doesn’t matter.
Because today is where life actually happens.
Faith operates today.
Love operates today.
Kindness operates today.
Purpose operates today.
The soul lives in now.
Worry lives somewhere else.
THE COST OF WORRY
Worry is interest paid on a debt that may never come due.
It steals energy.
It steals joy.
It steals clarity.
It steals presence.
And often gives nothing useful in return.
Preparation is wise.
Worry is different.
Preparation takes action.
Worry takes peace.
THE BRIDGE LESSON
When the traveler finally reached the bridge, he discovered something remarkable.
It was strong.
The river was manageable.
The storm never came.
Most of the suffering had occurred in his imagination.
Not in reality.
How many times have we done the same thing?
THE WISDOM OF TODAY
There is enough to do today.
Enough to enjoy today.
Enough to appreciate today.
Enough to learn today.
Enough to love today.
Today’s responsibilities are usually sufficient.
We rarely need to add tomorrow’s burdens to them.
RICHIE SPEAKING…
Do not cross bridges before you reach them.
When the bridge arrives, cross it.
When the challenge arrives, face it.
When the opportunity arrives, embrace it.
But until then…
Enjoy today’s sunrise.
Appreciate today’s blessings.
Love today’s people.
Live today’s life.
The bridge will be there when you get there.
And chances are, you’ll discover you are stronger than you thought.
