What feels overwhelming today may one day become the very lesson that strengthens you.
The strange thing about problems?
They arrive loudly…
but often leave quietly.
And when they do, something valuable is left behind:
growth.

THE LESSON OF A PIMPLE
Try to remember far back in your young life when something presented itself that appeared to be the end of the world as kids understand it. It was real for its time, moved us every which way and we thought it was only happening to us.
I remember seeing the first pimple on my forehead and seriously considering faking illness so I would not have to go to school until I figured out what this was and why.
The worst part of it?
Why me?
Until you share it with others and suddenly discover…
everyone goes through something.
WORTHY TANGENT
BTW…while we are on it, is there anyone who did not fake an illness at some point to avoid school? LOL Ferris Bueler
Mine was so convincing I did not even need rehearsal.
Yet hidden inside that childish maneuver was an unrefined survival instinct…doing what it takes to navigate discomfort.
Later in life, when refined correctly, that same energy becomes resilience, courage and problem-solving.
Trial and error were always teaching us…
even when we did not realize it.
COMES IN LIKE A LION…LEAVES LIKE A LAMB
Those childhood incidents caused tremendous alarm for their time.
Then later?
No big deal.
Sometimes even funny.
That realization becomes important because it reveals a powerful truth:
problems come and go.
That means:
notice them…
handle them…
but never surrender to them.
WE CAN RESOLVE
Problems continue all throughout life if you stop long enough to observe.
Yet the vast majority eventually get handled.
Somehow…
some way…
they pass.
And slowly you begin realizing something important:
you already possess a remarkable ability to remedy, adjust and recover.
LEARNING CURVE…I GET IT
In my middle years, some difficult events appeared that at the time looked very serious.
Why?
Because I had never encountered anything like them before.
But eventually I discovered something hidden inside unpleasant experiences:
they are often trying to teach us how to handle life better.
BECOMING GREATER THAN THE BOTHER
Problems have a strange way of activating our solutions bank.
They summon forth:
- skills
- patience
- creativity
- endurance
- courage
You do not see this clearly in the moment because discomfort clouds perspective.
But eventually you realize:
you were designed for forward movement…
not defeat.
RISING ABOVE IS OUR TRUE NATURE
Human beings are built to recover.
We heal.
We adapt.
We rebuild.
We continue.
Defeat is not our true nature.
Growth is.
WHAT’S THIS?
Every circumstance that presents itself in this brief journey is bearable if we remain calm, open and objective.
When we refuse to give up…
answers begin presenting themselves.
HANDLE IT
Take honest inventory of your life:
- errors
- regrets
- lessons
- victories
- missteps
Then recognize something beautiful:
perhaps part of living is proving our love for life by learning how to handle what visits us. Make friends with trial & error. Appreciate the learning curve
KEEP AN EYE OUT
At some point, problems stopped appearing to me as game-over moments and became temporary intrusions instead.
That shift created something else inside me:
awareness of others.
You begin noticing:
- who needs encouragement
- who needs kindness
- who simply needs someone beside them
Because we all journey through difficulties eventually.
SPEND THIS COIN
Everything passes while having its time.
Nature proves this constantly.
History proves it too.
So perhaps the wiser path is to spend our lessons generously while we can.
This becomes the true coin of the realm.
May those answers become easier…
and may humor visit with you often too.
Did this speak to your heart or life journey?
