Freedom was never free.
Somebody paid for it…
with sweat,
sacrifice,
suffering,
and blood.
Human beings are quick to place values upon things.
Money.
Property.
Jewelry.
Success.
Status.
We calculate worth constantly.
But how does one place a value upon those who gave EVERYTHING…
including their very lives?
GAVE ALL
I speak now of the men and women who sacrificed themselves so that what we call America could continue to exist and endure.
Many of us will never know their names.
Never hear their final thoughts.
Never fully understand what they faced.
Yet the results of their sacrifice surround us every single day.
Freedom itself speaks for them.
SEA TO SHINING SEA
America stands not merely because of buildings, wealth or military power.
It stands because generations before us believed liberty was worth defending.
The ability to speak freely,
worship freely,
dream freely,
live freely…
came with a cost far beyond money.
It was purchased through sacrifice.
THOSE IN POSITION
When people in positions of authority abuse power, neglect responsibility or forget who and what came before them…
it stirs righteous frustration within many hearts.
Leadership is not merely about perks,
titles,
or salaries.
It is stewardship.
A sacred trust handed down through sacrifice.
SHOW SOME RESPECT
If those who gave their lives could speak to us now, perhaps they would say:
“Make it mean something.”
“Protect what was handed to you.”
“Do not waste the opportunity purchased at such a high price.”
Some who sacrificed would likely beam with pride.
Others perhaps would grieve seeing corruption, division and selfishness grow where honor should stand.
MY ACTIONS SAY THANK YOU
Gratitude is not merely spoken.
It is lived.
Memorial Day should not only be one date upon a calendar…
but a mindset.
The best way to thank those who sacrificed is to live responsibly with what they preserved.
HONOR THE SYSTEMS
The systems of freedom, justice and liberty were not cheaply assembled.
Blood paid for them.
Lives built them.
Sacrifice preserved them.
That is why those entrusted with leadership should rise to the occasion,
not lower the standard.
Honor the responsibility or step aside for those who will.
FOR ALL OUR SAKES
The true wealth of America is not gold or possessions.
It is the shared belief that human beings should live free with dignity and opportunity.
That belief became protected through sacrifice.
And the living honor the dead best by preserving those standards for future generations.
YOU HAVE MY GRATITUDE
To every veteran,
every fallen soldier,
every family that carried loss…
thank you.
We may never meet.
But respect does not require introduction.
GET THIS
Every simple freedom we casually enjoy carries invisible sacrifice beneath it.
Ballgames.
Cookouts.
Road trips.
Movies.
Barbecues.
Family gatherings.
All quietly rest upon freedoms others protected before us.
STAND YOUR GUARD
No life given in defense of good is meaningless if goodness continues afterward.
Protect freedom.
Protect integrity.
Protect each other.
And guard carefully what was purchased so dearly.
NOTICE TO GOVERNMENT
To every leader,
official,
representative and person entrusted with authority:
The position you hold was bought with a price far greater than any paycheck.
Honor it.
Serve well.
Protect the people.
And remember always…
freedom’s foundation was built upon sacrifice.
