A plan sitting still is only paperwork.
The action is what gives it life.
And when YOU move with a purpose…
people notice.
TEST THIS: Create an inaction plan. They are all the same. They do nothing
To do business, one has to be IN business.
That means rising to the start-up occasion with an action plan and then monitoring the ACTION.
It can be as simple as:
having the right tools,
communicating effectively,
providing a service,
and then tweaking the endeavor until it starts going where you want it to go.
Plans matter.
But movement matters more.
BEING IN BUSINESS IS NOT HARD
Today it is easier than ever to look and operate like a business.
Go back fifty years and the picture was very different.
You needed an office.
Specified hours.
Proper dress.
A place to meet people.
A desk.
A phone.
A filing cabinet.
Today?
You can carry most of that office around in your cellphone.
Hang it on your belt.
Drop it in your purse.
Work from a coffee shop.
Work from the road.
Work from almost anywhere.
That is convenience.
But do not confuse convenience with effectiveness.
The tools may be easier.
The responsibility to USE them well is still yours.
KEEP UP OR STAY AHEAD
There is almost always something inside a business operation that can be improved.
A process.
A response time.
A presentation.
A service.
A follow-up.
A customer experience.
A way of communicating.
It is sitting there waiting to be noticed and activated.
Sometimes your competition finds it first.
Fine.
Now you know.
You can keep up.
But if you are paying attention, experimenting, and staying close to your customers, you may discover the next improvement before they do.
That is where staying ahead of the curve gets interesting.
PAUSE FOR CAUSE.
Do not change things merely to look busy.
Improve what actually improves the business.
ITS ABOUT PEOPLE…THEN GET TO WORK
We all want the business.
We all want the prosperity.
Fine.
But PEOPLE still have to approve of what you are doing.
They have to trust you.
Choose you.
Pay you.
Return to you.
Recommend you.
Do not forget the human being in the middle of the transaction.
Deals come and go.
People remember how they were treated.
They remember whether you called back.
Whether you listened.
Whether you respected their time.
Whether you did what you said you would do.
That becomes part of your business plan whether you wrote it down or not.
TENACITY…POWERFUL WHEN APPLIED
Tenacity plays a major role in success.
The word NO does not always mean defeat to me.
Sometimes it means:
more work is needed.
A different angle.
A better explanation.
A different timing.
Another person.
Another route.
Not hounding.
Not arguing.
Not wearing people down.
That is not tenacity.
That is just annoying.
Tenacity is staying committed to the purpose while being intelligent enough to change the method.
People like seeing someone move with a purpose.
It communicates belief.
Energy.
Direction.
And direction attracts support.
STOP MEANS STOP…BUT NOT FOREVER
Stop signs in business work much like stop signs in traffic.
STOP means STOP.
So stop.
Assess.
Look around.
Find out what is happening.
Then…
GO.
A snag is not always a funeral.
A wall is not always the end.
Sometimes it is simply a place where the old route stopped working.
PAUSE FOR CAUSE.
Ask:
What changed?
What am I missing?
What needs adjusting?
What still works?
Then begin moving again.
Movement after assessment is often much smarter than movement before it.
DEAL SEALERS
Some of the finest business tools cost absolutely nothing.
Manners.
Courtesy.
Respect.
Follow-through.
People notice them.
And they notice even more when somebody keeps those qualities during pressure or disagreement.
Anybody can be polite when everything is going perfectly.
Character gets tested when something goes wrong.
If a person can remain respectful, clear, and professional while handling adversity…
that gets votes of confidence.
People like doing business with people who make them feel respected.
RICHIE SPEAKS
Here is one Richie rule:
A plan without movement is just a nice idea wearing business clothes.
Another:
Do not confuse being BUSY with moving FORWARD.
And one more:
When you know where you are going, even a small step looks different.
PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS
From the spirit of Pearls for the Soul:
“Purpose gives direction to action, and action gives evidence to purpose.”
From the spirit of God I AM:
“Movement becomes meaningful when the inner intention and the outer conduct agree.”
From the spirit of It Is Finished:
“Stop long enough to see clearly, then move again without carrying the old obstruction with you.”
PEARLS INSIGHT
Action plans become effective when they are specific, monitored, adjusted, and actually carried out.
Progress depends not only on tools and strategy, but also on communication, adaptability, customer experience, tenacity, and follow-through.
Purpose turns movement into direction.
PEARLS CONNECTION
This connects directly with GOING AND GETTING PAST THE QUITTING STAGE.
Sometimes the next move is not to quit.
It is to stop, assess, adjust, and continue.
It also connects with ONE SUBJECT AT A TIME PLEASE.
Action becomes much easier when you know which task deserves attention first.
And SKILLS BANKS ARE DIFFERENT reminds us that the strongest action plans usually use what a person already does naturally well.
FINAL SAY
The best action plan is YOU moving with a purpose.
Not frantic.
Not scattered.
Not trying everything at once.
Clear.
Deliberate.
Aware.
Flexible.
You know where you want to go.
You begin.
You watch the results.
You adjust.
Then you move again.
Business is not complicated when you keep the basics alive:
serve people,
communicate clearly,
keep your word,
improve what needs improving,
and keep moving.
The plan points.
YOU walk.
