A TRUE COIN OF THIS REALM

Money can buy many things.

It can buy attention.

It can buy influence.

It can buy possessions.

But there is one thing it cannot buy.

Credibility.

That must be earned…
one promise at a time.

CREDIBILITY IS PRICELESS

THE TRUE COIN OF THIS REALM

There are certain things money cannot buy.

Trust.

Respect.

Character.

Integrity.

Credibility.

These things are earned the old-fashioned way.

One decision.

One promise.

One action.

One day at a time.

Unlike money, credibility cannot be inherited.

Unlike power, it cannot be appointed.

Unlike fame, it cannot be manufactured.

It must be lived.

YOUR CREDIBILITY ACCOUNT

I often think of credibility as an invisible bank account.

Every promise kept is a deposit.

Every responsibility honored is a deposit.

Every truth told is a deposit.

Every commitment fulfilled is a deposit.

Conversely…

Every broken promise is a withdrawal.

Every lie is a withdrawal.

Every excuse is a withdrawal.

Every act of deception is a withdrawal.

The fascinating part is that everyone has an account.

Whether they know it or not.

There is no middle ground.

You are either building it…

Or spending it.

IF I HAVE IT…
NO ONE CAN TAKE IT FROM ME

Suppose a person develops a lifelong reputation for honesty, fairness, reliability, and integrity.

What can someone do to take it away?

Accuse them?

Perhaps.

Slander them?

Maybe.

Attack their character?

Certainly.

But if the person’s life consistently demonstrates otherwise, the truth eventually stands on its own feet.

Character has a way of defending itself.

That is why credibility becomes such a valuable possession.

Once earned, it becomes part of who you are.

It lives inside you.

Not outside you.

YOUR WORD IS YOU

There was a time when a handshake meant something.

A man’s word meant something.

A woman’s promise meant something.

Contracts existed, but character carried greater weight.

The phrase:

“My word is my bond”

was not merely a saying.

It was a way of life.

Today, many people underestimate the value of this principle.

I do not.

When I give my word, I become accountable to it.

Not because someone else demands it.

Because I demand it of myself.

The standard comes from within.

CONFIDENCE HAS ROOTS

The word confidence comes from the idea of “with knowing.”

Think about that.

Confidence is not arrogance.

Confidence is not bluffing.

Confidence is not pretending.

Confidence is knowing.

Knowing who you are.

Knowing what you stand for.

Knowing what you will and will not do.

Knowing your word means something.

When credibility grows, confidence naturally follows.

YOU SOLD OUT…
CHEAP TOO

One of life’s saddest spectacles is watching someone exchange their integrity for temporary gain.

Power.

Money.

Recognition.

Pleasure.

Status.

Influence.

The exchange often appears profitable.

At first.

But something priceless was traded away.

Character.

And character is always worth more than the transaction.

Many people think they won.

Years later they discover they lost.

PERSONAL POVERTY

There are many forms of poverty.

Financial poverty is only one.

Spiritual poverty.

Moral poverty.

Character poverty.

These are far more damaging.

A wealthy man who cannot trust himself is poor.

A powerful man whose word means nothing is poor.

A famous person who lives behind lies is poor.

A person may possess everything externally and still be bankrupt internally.

That is a tragedy.

RICH PEOPLE CAN BE POOR

The world often measures success by accumulation.

How much do you own?

How much do you make?

How much influence do you have?

The soul measures differently.

Can people trust you?

Can they depend on you?

Do you tell the truth?

Do you keep your promises?

Do you act honorably when no one is watching?

These questions reveal true wealth.

PEARLS TO PONDER

“The greatest treasure you will ever discover is another human being.”

Credibility determines how valuable you become to that discovery.

“We were not put here to be defeated.”

Nor were we put here to defeat our own character.

“The purpose of life is to discover the purpose of life.”

Part of that purpose is becoming trustworthy.

“When you feed the soul, you feed everything.”

Integrity is soul food.

THE TRUE COIN OF THIS REALM

I have met wealthy people who were poor.

I have met poor people who were rich.

The difference was not money.

The difference was character.

A credible person can walk into any room and bring value.

A credible person sleeps peacefully.

A credible person does not fear exposure.

A credible person carries treasure within.

No thief can steal it.

No market can crash it.

No recession can diminish it.

No government can tax it.

It belongs entirely to the one who earned it.

WHAT THEN?

Guard your credibility.

Protect your word.

Honor your promises.

Speak truthfully.

Act fairly.

Be reliable.

Become the kind of person whose character speaks before they do.

Because in the end, credibility is the true coin of this realm.

You either have it…

Or you don’t.
