Lately, I have been eating a lot of marrow.
You know—the good stuff hidden from sight, way down deep within the bone.
To me, that is what getting the marrow out of life means: extracting what is deep, meaningful and worthwhile from the moment you are in.
Not just passing through life.
TASTING IT.
Because when you consider that you will never pass this exact way again…why leave the best parts untouched?
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Go for it.
Stop being so reserved and proper all the time.
There is a time and place for being conservative, careful and serious. But there is also a time for CELEBRATING LIFE.
And life celebration is something that can be practiced.
Not once a year.
Not when everything is perfect.
Not when you finally have enough money, enough time or enough whatever.
RIGHT NOW.
I MARVEL
I marvel at how precious life is and how marvelously equipped we are to experience it.
Think about this.
You are a self-contained living human being capable of walking around this world, observing, touching, tasting, listening, learning, laughing, wondering, exploring and loving.
Doesn’t that strike you as rather miraculous?
Stop for a moment and actually LOOK around.
COME OUT OF YOUR THOUGHT LIFE
Sometimes we become so buried inside our thoughts, worries, plans and emotions that the world goes by while we are technically standing right in the middle of it.
Come out for a while.
Look up at the sky.
Pick out one cloud and just watch it.
No two clouds are exactly alike.
That one is passing through.
So are you.
So am I.
HERE TODAY…GONE TOMORROW
The same goes for flowers, trees, animals, insects, seasons and most importantly…
PEOPLE.
The next person you meet, take another look.
Not a stare.
A LOOK.
Realize there is somebody living inside that walking, talking outside shell.
You see the outside first.
But the inside?
AHHHHH…THERE’S THE MARROW.
Inside are memories, victories, disappointments, funny stories, fears, lessons, mistakes, dreams, loves, losses and experiences you know absolutely nothing about.
No two inner worlds are exactly alike.
And sometimes all it takes to open the door is genuine interest.
A question.
A conversation.
A little patience.
Listening instead of waiting for your turn to talk.
I AM ENJOYING YOUR COMPANY
Maybe that is one of life’s great pleasures we overlook.
Enjoying another human being simply because they are here.
Not because we need something.
Not because they can advance us.
Not because they agree with everything we say.
Just appreciating the company.
You may discover something remarkable about them.
And strangely enough…
you may discover something about yourself at the same time.
Life is passing.
The cloud is moving.
The moment is moving.
We are moving.
