Anything that promises escape without healing…
eventually demands payment.
Running from pain may bring temporary relief,
but life always waits patiently at the door for your return.

IF YOU GET DRUNK ENOUGH
You find out that it doesn’t work or serve any real purpose.
What I mean is at best, it relieves you of life response temporarily, but has no power to stop life and whatever else comes with it from returning the next day to be dealt with.
Some people experiment with this and find the timeout refreshing plus it works.
Ah…
but it is working you instead.
APPROVE ME?
When a drunk wakes up, it’s ugly and it doesn’t matter whether they are with someone or alone.
If with someone, that other person guaranteed is wanting out and looking for every opportunity to do so with one exception.
If it is a fellow drunk.
That’s why people don’t like drinking alone.
They want approval.
A sort of acceptance if you will.
If you are alone, it becomes tacit approval to do it again.
“No one will know.”
NEED TO GET AWAY?
I am speaking of any addiction too.
It is expensive, harmful and a waste to want to run away from reality and long-lasting as well as damaging too.
Food is a great escape and helps you forget while you overfill yourself with comfort foods and excessive amounts.
Again, as an escape, it works…
but at a price.
DOSE ME?
Drugs are no better.
There are so many ways to medicate oneself.
You can go up, down, in, out or numb.
You can do it for hours, days or chunks of your lifetime.
Many become dependent on drugs relieving the body of all responsibility and duty to help you naturally and stand by you.
Just be aware of this powerful dynamic in drugs and take the least amounts and only when absolutely necessary.
Exceptions apply.
IT’S SUBJECTIVE
The question that people avoid the most, who resist dealing with problems, reality or traumas of any nature is always the same one.
What is it that took place that was or is so horrific that you have to medicate yourself to live?
The answer is almost always the same.
PAIN
Not necessarily the physical type but instead the emotional, mental and psychological types that root themselves within the person’s psyche.
Shock, stress and survival experiences drive the pain in so deep that it becomes part of your daily living exercise.
However…
this is not entirely true to form.
AUTO-RESTORE
An incident can bookmark itself upon a person and leave a deep and solid imprint making one bound to it in the moment but only until healing can take place.
Then one dynamic reduces while the other regains rightful ground and restores order best it can.
Don’t interfere with this or it prolongs recovery not to mention the potential to compound the issue.
TIME
It is interesting to note that the body knows what to do and needs time to do it.
Being used to having our way, we become willful and try to speed up the recovery process but more often than not compound the issue and prolong it as well.
Then the nature of a habit forms enslaving us further.
DON’T MOVE…BE STILL
Think:
When the body goes into shock, it is to preserve itself, call on its defenses and reserves and neutralize the trauma using adrenaline and endorphins while slowing down and speeding up other functions.
It has a built-in 911 automatic response.
Letting it go through the cycle is crucial.
PRIVATE MATTERS
Allowing people who are suffering to come to terms with their specific cause and effect does require special training and that assumes the person affected is wanting to cooperate.
Many do not feel comfortable going public with their feelings.
Today, the rush to get back doesn’t include long-term healing and recovery.
But that is the problem.
CLOSURE
The short-term applications help one get through or by, but do not give the closure necessary to at some point leave it all behind.
Painful episodes tend to repeat and reintroduce themselves for a reason.
Each time they do, if handled correctly, the episode weakens until it cannot come forth like it just happened.
It must decrease…
and will…
if handled properly.
CHOOSE THE ENDING
We may even be given a chance to rewrite the ending and bring about our own closure as well.
People who are victims of just growing-up events, lack of using their own common sense, being in the wrong place or having an unscheduled wake-up call can learn albeit painfully…
and know better now.
LIKE-KIND
When they do, they become most helpful to those who require a helping hand until they can pick up the pieces and walk away to reenter a normal life course too.
That’s why people who have recovered can be so effective in helping others do the same.
One helps the other who had help from another…
repeats.
LIVE UNTIL YOU CANNOT
Whatever it is, whatever you are going through, can be overcome, will pass and allow you to live on and let no one tell you different especially thoughts that visit you on the subject.
Life will not give way easily to any force providing you agree with this.
Doctors call this…
“the will to live.”
UNTIL THEN
Be comforted and of good cheer.
