Life does not ask you to rehearse before living it.

You opened your eyes this morning—and that was your invitation to begin.

The power of NOW is that it arrives untainted—fresh, new and never before experienced.

Every precious moment carries a little mystery of its own. No two moments are exactly alike, yet they are freely handed out to billions of people living in different places, conditions and circumstances.

What was your invitation to participate?

You woke up!

WHERE DO YOU BEGIN?

Now that you are awake, what do you do?

I am not speaking about the business appointments, social engagements, errands and activities that fill your day and give you a sense of accomplishment. Those things will always be waiting.

I am speaking about awakening—and allowing the day to unfold for you and through you, much like a butterfly floating upon a breeze.

The butterfly does not argue with the wind.

It opens its wings and finds the flow.

LEARN TO LIVE

Life does not need anything from us before it can begin doing what it was created to do.

It is already a complete experience, designed for creation to enjoy while being both in it and part of it.

No rehearsal is required.

No practice session must be completed.

No perfect plan has to be approved.

Living is an automatic system that pairs beautifully with those willing to interact with it instead of trying to control every second of it.

PAUSE FOR CAUSE.

How much of your life are you living—and how much are you merely preparing to live?

FIND YOUR FLOW

Be wary of traveling against your own conscience. Moving in the wrong direction has a way of slowing everything down and adding unnecessary detours, complications and experiences that may never have been intended for you.

Life allows us to make those choices—but life also allows us to correct them.

Become aware of that quiet voice within you.

Pay attention to what brings peace, what causes resistance and what repeatedly tells you, “This is not your road.”

Look for your own personal flow.

You will recognize it because, although it may still require effort, it will not require you to betray yourself.

LEARNING TO LET GO

Many people have been thrust into unpleasant situations—some recently and others many years ago.

The event may have ended, but the trauma, drama or shock sometimes attempts to tag along behind us.

It keeps asking for another ride.

We have to say, “No. You cannot come where I am going.”

Learning how to let an experience pass while allowing ourselves to remain here and continue living is one of life’s most valuable lessons.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Everything passes, but here is the trick:

Do not let it take a portion of you with it.

Resentment keeps the event alive. Overreacting feeds it. Replaying it repeatedly gives yesterday permission to occupy today.

Quiet contemplation, objectivity and a more carefree spirit do not deny what happened. They simply prevent it from continuing to happen inside you.

That is not weakness.

That is freedom.

PROFESSOR NATURE

Nature teaches this lesson without charging tuition.

Observe how the seasons arrive and depart. None of them desperately clings to the one before it. The earth moves naturally through its cycles and invites us to move with it.

Children teach us something similar.

Watch how freely they can enter a moment, experience it and then move toward the next discovery. They have not yet learned to carry every yesterday upon their backs.

Perhaps we adults need to remember what children have not yet forgotten.

ARE YOU REALLY LIVING?

The Dalai Lama famously warned of a human contradiction: people may sacrifice their health to earn money, later spend that money trying to regain their health and become so anxious about tomorrow that they never fully experience today.

Then they reach the end having prepared for life—but not truly lived it.

That is a mighty high price to pay for postponing NOW.

PEARLS INSIGHT

Life is not a performance for which you must endlessly rehearse.

Yes, we learn. Yes, we prepare. Yes, we make plans.

But preparation becomes a hiding place when it prevents participation.

There comes a moment when you must stop standing alongside your own life and step into it.

RICHIE SPEAKS

You do not need permission to begin again.

The system of living is designed so that any person may start over at any time. Life does not close the door simply because yesterday became difficult, disappointing or downright ugly.

Open the door yourself.

Walk through it.

And when you finally reach the point where you no longer need another second chance because you are fully present in the chance before you—that is when you are living life to the fullest.

FINAL SAY

Living requires no practice.

It requires your presence.

Yesterday has passed. Tomorrow has not reported for duty.

But today?

Today is standing directly in front of you.

Live it!
