Power is strange.
The moment you finally obtain it…
life immediately begins testing whether you deserved it.
The greatest masters of power often discover one thing above all:
Restraint.

PARADOX OF POWER
In many eastern religions and disciplines, one strives for mastery and then upon achieving it, does something rather unique and extraordinary.
They revere and respect what the journey taught them and foremost among those lessons is this:
Do not misuse the power that has been shown and given.
Restraint.
POWER FOR POWER’S SAKE?
Often men who have no intention of honoring power for its own sake and goodness come into it and not knowing the responsibility that comes with it, wield it unwisely, haphazardly and for a time do more harm than good.
History is replete with examples and stories of this.
TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN…
What one finds out is that having power comes with an enormous, won’t-be-ignored type of daily reminder on what to do with it and why.
Power is energy and it cannot sit still.
It must go to work.
For the good or the bad and by whom remains to be seen.
POWER FOR GOOD
Power is a force unto itself and those who have had it or unleashed it find it a good thing to have.
From doing light everyday chores to raising a family, power is necessary to move life forward.
Having a purpose that is beneficial when wielding it does much good and all prosper.
INACTIVE POWER
Power for power’s sake won’t work.
It has to perform and the temptation for the user is always present.
The soft side of it is subtle while at work.
It could be simply having your way all the time about everything and when you don’t, there is power to make yourself known.
You discover power has its own identity.
FORCE
The harder, more challenging side is forcing, dictating and dominating events using power and circumstances to make them go and do a certain task for a specific outcome.
If this becomes the driving force behind a movement…
corruption is not far behind.
Why?
POWERFUL?
“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
It becomes a consuming force upon who it is aimed and also upon the one wielding it.
Anyone can plainly see that the power itself becomes more coveted than the one using it making it attractive for all to want and possess.
One should be wary of power for it respects no one and demands quite a bit for its use.
USE IT
The power to act and then not acting has a reverse effect.
Those that need assistance and don’t get it from those that can provide it respond negatively thus summoning their own power to express it by.
No one who truly needs help wants to hear:
“There is nothing we can do.”
Power says otherwise.
POWER PLAYER
I remember reading where Christ would use His power for good but He went about it this way.
He would say to the least of them:
“Do you believe I can do this?”
“Do you want this?”
If the person agreed, it was given unto them.
Here we learn that when two agree correctly and for the right reasons, power goes to work as directed for the good.
The result gets the attention…
not the power that assisted.
SATISFACTION
As consumers we are always cognizant of power and the people who possess it.
When things go wrong or don’t go right, we always want to move up the ladder and speak to someone “higher up.”
Why?
It gets us closer to the power that can bring about the result we want.
The higher you go…
the more power to be found.
CAN YOU HANDLE IT?
Power can be like money or fame in that one must be careful in asking for or wanting these forces because they can overwhelm.
Coming into these dynamics before one’s time can do much harm to self and others.
The best wielders of these dynamics tend to have one common trait.
THE LEAST GIVES OUT THE MOST
Humility.
For some reason this offsets and enables a power user to not become subject to consequences, addiction, temptation or corruption while still being able to direct power toward its rightful end use.
Humility protects the wielder from the paradox of power.
Power is to be used…
but not to be used…
by it.
