Eventually, the visible rungs disappear—but the climb continues.

What began as outward progress becomes an inward transformation, and the ladder of life starts leading us toward something higher than achievement.

In Part 1, we discovered that life is ladder-like.

The ladder beckons us to approach, take hold, and climb one rung at a time so we may fully experience the journey.

None of us has traveled this exact life before.

We also discovered something every honest climber eventually learns:

Help is needed.

Help is wanted.

And because none of us arrived where we are without assistance, we should be willing to help others as we ourselves have been helped.

WORTHY NOTE

The inner person thrives while the outer person grows—and the outer person thrives while the inner person develops.

The whole person must be fed to become all that person can be.

THE FIRST THREE RUNGS

The first rung taught us to begin.

The second taught us appreciation and gratitude.

The third introduced maturity, confidence, and a growing sense of purpose.

Now the climb continues.

THE THIRD RUNG—A CLOSER LOOK

By the third rung, we have developed some confidence because we know more than when we started.

This is as it should be.

We begin discovering our skills bank—the collection of abilities, lessons, instincts, experiences, and inner resources that have been developing throughout the journey.

We recognize that we are not alone.

Something valuable is at work.

When fully developed, this inner knowing begins doing much of the work that once required constant explanation and outside direction.

A phenomenon takes place:

We cannot explain everything that is happening.

We only know that it is.

THE RUNGS DISAPPEAR—BUT THE LADDER REMAINS

Eventually, we no longer need to reach outward for something physical to elevate us.

The ladder begins moving inside.

The inner sanctum of the human being becomes activated. Its purpose is to help us grow, guide us, and include us more intimately in the climb.

We begin receiving prompts.

Something within says:

Go this way.

Wait.

Proceed.

Correct that.

Help this person.

Leave that behind.

The visible rung has become inward guidance.

THE PROMPT POINTS THE WAY

These prompts add deeper meaning and purpose to the journey.

Earlier in life, we may have experimented with many available paths. But maturity asks us to narrow our attention toward our particular purpose.

What belongs to you?

What were you prepared to do?

What keeps returning to your awareness even after distractions pass?

The outward journey continues, but the inward journey begins revealing why.

THE SMALL, STILL, COMFORTING VOICE

Something gentle and necessary joins us.

It does not always shout.

It may soothe and comfort the spirit and soul while quietly pointing toward a better way.

Its rewards exceed material desires because it reaches a place earthly possessions cannot satisfy.

A deep peace can follow when we listen.

Conflict often arises when we knowingly turn away.

Ah—we are being taught another way.

PAUSE FOR CAUSE.

Not every impulse is guidance.

True inner guidance should be examined through conscience, truth, wisdom, prayer, responsibility, and its effect upon other people.

The small voice does not excuse wrongdoing.

It guides us away from it.

ARE WE STILL CLIMBING WITHOUT A LADDER?

As we grow into our gifts, we may still be uncertain about everything expected of us.

We discover that life has requirements, conditions, and responsibilities.

Yet something is preparing us for more.

Think of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.

The caterpillar cannot fully imagine flight while crawling upon a leaf.

But transformation is already built into its journey.

TRANSFORMATION FROM WITHIN

Other people are traveling with us.

If they accept what is being offered, they too are learning, changing, and transforming.

They made mistakes.

They yearned.

They suffered.

They felt sorrow.

Yet they are still here.

Amazing in itself!

Like us, they are traveling from “here” to “there.”

But where is there?

Perhaps we do not receive the complete answer while standing on a single rung.

THE LADDER IS NOW INVISIBLE

We continue traveling upward and onward.

We call it evolving, maturing, learning, or transforming.

The journey begins exceeding ordinary thought, emotion, and the five senses while developing a deeper inner knowing.

It becomes a wordless word—something clearer than previous communication even though it cannot always be easily explained.

Trust develops.

Not blind trust.

Experienced trust.

We remember earlier guidance, the result it produced, the protection it provided, and the peace that followed.

WORTHY NOTE

As you ascend outwardly, you also descend more deeply within yourself.

Eventually, the outward climb and inward discovery meet.

Transformation follows.

The caterpillar’s days end.

The butterfly’s turn begins.

And for a moment, we become speechless.

THE CLIMB CHANGES PURPOSE

At first, we climbed to achieve.

Then we climbed to understand.

Eventually, we climb to become.

The position matters less than the person.

The applause matters less than the truth.

Possession matters less than purpose.

We begin releasing what once seemed necessary because the soul has discovered something greater.

WE REACH THE TOP OF THE CLIMB

Many indescribable experiences brought us this far, and we are grateful.

As our attachment to this world begins to lessen, one final activity takes place.

Everything is gathered:

The gifts.

The lessons.

The love.

The failures.

The corrections.

The relationships.

The questions.

The answers.

The journey and the person who completed it become one final accumulation beyond words.

This is where the ladder was leading.

This is what the journey was preparing.

THE FINAL TRANSITION

We simply go to sleep in one room and awaken in another.

We were expected.

A place was prepared.

What joy unspeakable—exceeding everything previously known.

The ladder did not end.

It delivered us.

FINAL THOUGHT

The ladder of life begins beneath our feet, moves through our experiences, enters our inner being, and ultimately leads beyond what our eyes can presently see.

PEARLS INSIGHT

True personal growth is more than gaining position, recognition, or possessions. It is the transformation of character, awareness, responsibility, faith, and purpose.

PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS

The Pearls writings repeatedly connect this life with preparation. What we encounter here can refine the person who continues beyond here.

PEARLS CONNECTION

Part 1 taught us to begin, appreciate, and mature. Part 2 reminds us to listen, transform, release, and trust where the completed journey leads.

RICHIE SPEAKS

Do not become so fascinated with the ladder that you forget why you are climbing.

The rungs are lessons.

The climb is transformation.

The destination is more than the top.

FINAL SAY

You approached the ladder.

You took hold.

You climbed.

You learned.

You transformed.

And when the final visible rung disappeared, you discovered that God’s journey had never stopped carrying you upward.
