Time is one of the few things you can spend only once.
You cannot buy it back, borrow more of it, or relive it.
So take your time…and treat it like the treasure it is.
We live life by schedules. We have routines and we follow them. It starts innocently enough when we first get out of bed. From there, we do not stop until we end up in bed again. In between, we spend TIME. It remains one of the most valuable, underrated, and misused dynamics known to man.
WAIT-UP!
First off, TIME waits for no one…NO ONE! The clock is ticking while you are sleeping, thinking, working, worrying, or making hay. It does not slow down because you are tired, confused, successful, or behind. It just keeps moving. Maybe that is why people do not always respect it the way they should. TIME is spread out over time, so we forget how much of it we are really spending.
WHO YOU?
TIME is no respecter of persons. Each one of us is given a portion of it to do with as we please. Rich or poor, educated or uneducated, famous or unknown, all get a daily allotment. What becomes fascinating is not that we all get time, but how differently we choose to spend it. Someone once asked me if I enjoyed their company. I told them, “I would not be here if I didn’t.” I value my time and I am aware of who and what I spend it on.
PARENTS SACRIFICE
Children do not always appreciate this at first. They do not realize the commitment parents make through time spent on them. A parent gives rides, attention, patience, money, listening, effort, correction, and care — all wrapped inside the giving of time. One day, TIME reveals what TIME invested has done. Then children, now grown, turn around and invest time in others. The cycle continues.
I GAVE YOU TIME
When people volunteer their time, they are giving away something extremely expensive. We do not get extra time. We do not get do-overs in the truest sense. So when someone gives you an hour, ten minutes, an afternoon, or even a thoughtful moment, understand what has happened. They gave some of their life to you. That is a very big deal.

Thank you, Ben, because that message carries even more weight now than ever. People waste years on nonsense, arguments, delay, fear, pride, and distraction and then wonder where life went. It went where your time went. That is why time must be watched, respected, and spent with greater awareness.
TIME IS A GIFT
Next time someone says, “I have five minutes for you,” do not judge the amount. Appreciate the generosity. They just offered you something non-replaceable, non-purchasable, and non-refundable. Make it count. Use it well. Get to the point. Be present. Show respect for the gift being given.
PONDER THIS
The only thing greater than time is no time, which is eternity. That thought alone should sober a person up and wake them up. If you cannot appreciate and spend wisely the time you have here and now, how then will you appreciate a place where time no longer runs out? That is worth some quiet thought.
THERE IS NO STOP-WATCH
TIME marches on…and you march with it whether you know it or not. So take your time, but do not waste your time. Spend it on what matters, on who matters, and in ways that honor the life you were given.
