Words leave the mouth quickly—

but their effects can remain for years.

Some Persian fellow who lived around the year 1048 gave a timeless warning about words, writing and human conduct.

Read carefully:

“The moving finger writes: and, having writ…Moves on; nor all thy Piety nor Wit… Shall lure it back to cancel half a line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
— Omar Khayyam

Way to go Omar.

Even centuries later—

the message still pierces straight through the heart.

WATCH WHAT YOU SAY

Things need to be said.

Truth must sometimes be spoken.

Actions must be taken.

But HOW we go about these things matters greatly.

Tone itself is a language.

Delivery carries power.

Meaning travels deeper than many realize.

SAY WHAT YOU MEAN

Leave as little room as possible for confusion, hidden implication or unnecessary doubt.

If done correctly—

words can soothe,

heal,

restore,

guide,

and calm even difficult moments.

WORTHY NOTE
Sometimes the same truth delivered differently changes the entire outcome.

DON’T ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE

People already carry emotional burdens.

If someone is struggling—

adding unnecessary criticism, cruelty or sharpness often compounds the pain instead of resolving it.

People forced to defend themselves while already hurting rarely hear the lesson clearly.

WHY HARM?

Once words are released—

they begin a journey of their own.

Regret cannot always retrieve them.

Excuses rarely erase them.

Tears often arrive after the damage already landed.

That is why intentional harm through speech becomes such a serious matter.

ASK ANY FULL ADULT KID

Children especially absorb words deeply.

Yelling.

Shaming.

Harshness.

Humiliation.

These often linger far longer than adults realize.

Words spoken in moments of anger can echo through someone’s entire adulthood.

ABUSE & LOVE DON’T MIX WELL

Authority without compassion quickly becomes oppression.

Rigid systems,

ego-driven behavior,

and careless communication slowly damage human dignity.

That is why kindness, patience and respectful correction matter so much.

A WRITTEN KIND WORD IS POWERFUL

During wartime—

letters from loved ones became priceless treasures.

Encouragement.

Affection.

Hope.

Comfort.

One sincere message could strengthen a weary soul tremendously.

Words can wound—

but they can also revive.

TIME WELL SPENT

Even difficult news can be delivered with care.

Not every message will feel pleasant—

but effort, sincerity and compassion can soften impact tremendously.

WATCH WHAT YOU SAY

Before speaking—

pause.

Before writing—

consider.

Before reacting—

think about the lasting effect.

Because once released—

words rarely travel alone.

They carry consequences with them.
