Some things were never meant to become permanent residents inside you.
Thoughts.
Resentment.
Fear.
Anger.
Unspoken hurt.
Hold too much too long…
and eventually something starts pushing back.
It is called WITHHOLD.
You keep something inside that probably should not remain there.
One thing.
Then another.
Then another.
Pretty soon you are carrying around an invisible storage unit.
LOL.

Now…
I want to be careful here.
Stress can affect how we feel physically and emotionally…
but not every illness comes from “holding things in.”
That would be too simple.
Still…
carrying unresolved stress, anger or worry for long periods can wear a person down.
And when that happens…
it may be time to reassess.
THE HEAVY LOAD
We were not made to carry everything forever.
Life moves.
Experiences come.
They go.
Conversations happen.
Problems arrive.
Lessons are learned.
Then ideally…
we continue.
But sometimes we stop the flow.
We hold:
the argument,
the insult,
the disappointment,
the mistake,
the fear,
the thing we wish we had said.
Now it becomes weight.
Why keep loading yourself down with things that no longer need to travel with you?
PAUSE FOR CAUSE.
There is a difference between:
PROCESSING SOMETHING
and
STORING IT FOREVER.
One helps.
The other gets heavy.
THE VOLCANO PRINCIPLE
Here is what happens when too much builds up.
You do not respond to the little thing.
You respond to:
the little thing
PLUS
the other fifteen things you never dealt with.
LOL.
Then somebody says:
WHY ARE YOU SO UPSET?
And technically…
you are not only upset about what just happened.
You are unloading the whole warehouse.
That is the volcano principle.
Pressure.
Pressure.
Pressure.
Then…
BOOM.
That is usually not the smoothest way to communicate.
Better to release pressure while it is still manageable.
FEELING DOWN
When unresolved stress keeps building…
it can affect other parts of life too.
Sleep.
Patience.
Focus.
Motivation.
Relationships.
Energy.
You start carrying one problem into rooms where it does not belong.
A work problem comes home.
A family problem goes to work.
Yesterday’s hurt walks into today’s conversation.
That is how one issue starts multiplying.
Sometimes the answer is not more thinking.
Sometimes it is less internal noise.
The answer may need room to arrive.
That means:
slow down,
step back,
get perspective,
talk,
write,
pray,
walk,
or simply sit quietly long enough to hear something different.
Conflict inside often tells us:
SOMETHING NEEDS ATTENTION.
FAITH
This is where faith can help many people.
Faith does not mean:
do nothing.
It means:
I DO NOT HAVE TO CONTROL EVERYTHING MYSELF.
That can be freeing.
Some call it:
God,
Providence,
trust,
hope,
acceptance,
or simply knowing that not every answer comes on demand.
You can do your part…
then let go of the part that is no longer yours.
That takes practice.
Especially for people who are used to fixing everything themselves.
LOL.
Sometimes strength looks like:
HOLD ON.
Other times strength looks like:
LET GO.
Knowing which is which…
that is the work.
TO SOAR ONE MUST RESPECT GRAVITY
I like the image of birds and butterflies.
They travel light.
Enough for the next leg.
Then they continue.
They do not carry the whole tree with them.
LOL.
Humans?
We try to pack:
last year,
ten years ago,
what somebody said,
what might happen tomorrow,
and three imaginary disasters
into one afternoon.
No wonder we feel heavy.
Life already has gravity.
Do not volunteer for extra weight.
Carry what is useful.
Release what has finished its purpose.
TALK IT OUT FOR A FRESH START
A good conversation can do wonders.
Why?
Because putting something into words often changes it.
Inside the mind…
a problem can become enormous.
Out loud…
you may suddenly hear it more clearly.
You may realize:
THAT IS WHAT HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME.
Or:
I NEVER LOOKED AT IT THAT WAY.
Or simply:
I FEEL BETTER HAVING SAID IT.
That matters.
A trusted person can provide:
an ear,
perspective,
questions,
support.
Sometimes that is enough.
Sometimes more structured help may be useful.
Either way…
you do not have to make every difficult thing a private lifelong project.
THE EAR IS A POWERFUL TOOL
People underestimate listening.
A person does not always need:
advice,
correction,
a lecture,
or a solution.
Sometimes they need:
ROOM.
Room to say it.
Room to hear themselves say it.
Room to release some pressure.
That is why a good listener is valuable.
They do not always remove the problem.
They make the load easier to examine.
THAT can be the beginning of change.
DO NOT CONFUSE RELEASE WITH DAMAGE
Now…
letting it out does NOT mean:
say anything,
anywhere,
to anyone,
at any volume.
LOL.
That is not release.
That may be collateral damage.
Healthy release still needs:
timing,
judgment,
respect,
self-control.
You can express anger…
without becoming abusive.
You can explain hurt…
without trying to wound back.
You can disagree…
without detonating.
The goal is not:
GET IT OUT AT ALL COSTS.
The goal is:
PROCESS IT CLEANLY.
THERE IS ALSO PRIVATE RELEASE
Not everything needs another person.
Sometimes you can release through:
writing,
walking,
exercise,
prayer,
music,
quiet,
creative work.
Different people process differently.
The important part is not trapping everything inside and calling that strength.
Silence can be wise.
But silence used only to avoid every difficult feeling?
That can become another kind of prison.
RELAX A LITTLE
Some things need to be solved.
Some need to be expressed.
Some need to be forgiven.
Some need to be accepted.
And some…
simply need to PASS.
Not every thought deserves a permanent address.
LOL.
Learn to let things come and go.
That is closer to the natural rhythm of life.
Experience.
Process.
Learn.
Adjust.
Continue.
RICHIE SPEAKS
Here is one Richie rule:
Do not turn temporary pain into permanent storage.
Another:
If you keep swallowing everything…
do not be surprised when something eventually wants OUT.
And one more:
Sometimes the lightness you are looking for begins with one honest sentence.
PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS
From the spirit of Pearls for the Soul:
“What is carried too long can become heavier than the original event.”
From the spirit of God I AM:
“Release creates room for guidance, peace and the next right step.”
From the spirit of It Is Finished:
“Let what has completed its lesson complete its stay.”
PEARLS INSIGHT
Emotional suppression and emotional regulation are not the same thing.
Suppression means repeatedly pushing feelings away without processing them.
Regulation means recognizing what you feel and choosing a constructive way to respond.
Useful ways to process difficult emotions can include:
conversation,
reflection,
writing,
movement,
rest,
spiritual practice,
or professional support when needed.
The goal is not to express every feeling immediately.
It is to avoid becoming a storage container for unresolved ones.
PEARLS CONNECTION
This connects directly with CHALLENGE YOURSELF…TAKE THE LISTENING TEST.
Sometimes another person’s attentive ear gives us room to release what has been building.
It also connects with CAN YOU DISAGREE AND NOT ARGUE?…THIS MUST BE TESTED.
Healthy expression does not require explosion.
And THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER…INTIMACY RESIDES THERE reminds us that honest conversation often deepens connection.
FINAL SAY
When you hold things in too long…
they do not always disappear.
Sometimes they become heavier.
So learn the difference between:
PAUSING…
and
BURYING.
Between:
SELF-CONTROL…
and
SUPPRESSION.
Between:
PROCESSING…
and
STORING.
You do not have to unload everything onto everybody.
But you also do not have to carry every hurt forever.
Talk when talking helps.
Be quiet when quiet helps.
Ask for help when help is needed.
Let go when the lesson is complete.
And remember…
you are supposed to move through life.
Not become a warehouse for everything that ever happened to you.
Travel a little lighter.
It is easier to breathe there.
