As I travel through life, I live and I learn.
I have never been here before.

Every day presents opportunities, lessons, choices, and consequences. Some come quickly. Others take years to arrive. But one thing has become crystal clear to me:
Life keeps accurate records.
You may fool people.
You may fool yourself.
You may even postpone the consequences.
But eventually, the harvest arrives.
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW
It is one of the oldest truths ever discovered.
Plant corn.
Get corn.
Plant weeds.
Get weeds.
Plant kindness.
Get kindness.
Plant deceit.
Get deceit.
Plant integrity.
Get trust.
Plant selfishness.
Get isolation.
Life is remarkably fair in this regard.
The harvest always resembles the seed.
LYING TAKES NO EFFORT
One of the easiest things in the world to do is lie.
It requires very little effort.
A person can omit facts.
Twist facts.
Hide facts.
Invent facts.
And often appear successful while doing it.
For a season.
That is the dangerous part.
Because consequences do not always arrive immediately, people sometimes mistake delay for escape.
They think they got away with it.
But they didn’t.
They simply bought time.
And time is always collecting interest.
THE TRAIL BEHIND YOU
Every action leaves evidence.
Every choice leaves a footprint.
Every habit leaves a trail.
Character reveals itself eventually.
Not because people are clever.
Because truth is persistent.
Truth has a way of surfacing.
It rises.
It reveals.
It exposes.
It corrects.
It waits patiently while deception burns itself out.
THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
I have watched deceivers try to deceive other deceivers.
Liars trying to out-lie liars.
Manipulators manipulating manipulators.
People judging conduct in others while carefully hiding their own.
It becomes almost comical.
The blind fighting amongst themselves while insisting everyone else is the problem.
Eventually the confusion consumes them.
The very thing they practiced becomes the thing that finds them.
HIGH PRICES TO PAY
The liar’s package comes with hidden fees.
Loss of trust.
Broken relationships.
Divorce.
Isolation.
Attorney fees.
Stress.
Fear.
Accusations.
Sleepless nights.
Damaged reputations.
Constant explanations.
And perhaps worst of all…
A troubled conscience.
Many people think the punishment is external.
Often it begins internally.
The conscience knows.
And it keeps score.
HOW DID YOU PROSPER?
I often wonder why some people sacrifice everything for temporary gain.
Money.
Power.
Control.
Recognition.
Status.
Possessions.
All while neglecting the very things that matter most.
Character.
Integrity.
Family.
Friendship.
Faith.
Purpose.
The irony is painful.
Some gain wealth and lose themselves.
Some gain influence and lose peace.
Some gain possessions and lose relationships.
That is a terrible bargain.
THE RIGHT WAY…
THE ONLY WAY
After witnessing enough of life, I find myself increasingly grateful for simple virtues.
Honesty.
Decency.
Fairness.
Integrity.
Truthfulness.
Reliability.
Compassion.
Accountability.
These things never go out of style.
These things never become obsolete.
These things pay dividends long after money has changed hands.
THE PEARLS CONNECTION
Throughout Pearls for the Soul, one truth appears repeatedly:
Your character is the true coin of this realm.
Not what you own.
Not what you accumulate.
Not what you control.
