STOP JUDGING OTHERS AS THERE IS UNIQUE UNTO TO THEM TOO

Nobody has traveled your exact road before.

Others may advise you, encourage you and even warn you—but your learning curve remains personal.

You learn when you learn.

So does everyone else.

Has anyone ever been here on Earth before?

GOOD.

Because we are all traveling one giant, never-ending learning curve filled with subjects that appear to have no end.

Each person travels a personal highway while dealing with personal issues. No two people experience the same road in exactly the same way.

AMAZING.

Your learning curve does more than teach you about a subject. It also teaches you about YOU—who you are, who you are not and who you may still become.

SOMETHING NEW… SOMETHING OLD

Many things have been introduced to me over the years so I could respond, learn and discover.

I have come to know what I do well.

I have also learned what I do not do well.

Then there is always something NEW—something I have never attempted, encountered or even considered.

There are also subjects I once dabbled in that return occasionally and ask more of me.

Life has a way of serving some very interesting experiences.

WE ARE LIVING COMPUTERS

It is no accident that we are self-contained, mobile creations capable of going somewhere, thinking something and doing something.

A thought or belief activates within the brain. The body then carries it out using its tools and abilities while we monitor the entire process.

Amazing.

We gather information.

We process experiences.

We store memories.

We recognize patterns.

We make decisions.

Best of all, we can reconsider those decisions and change our programming.

Unlike a machine, however, we also possess conscience, emotion, spirit, imagination and the ability to love.

WE KNOW—OTHER THINGS DO NOT

I enjoy observing plants, animals and insects because they carry out remarkable tasks with extraordinary precision.

They may not fully understand why they do what they do.

We have the opportunity to ask why.

We can examine what we are doing, improve it and test it again.

It is called learning.

It is called growing.

It is called evolving.

We can change.

NOTE THIS

No one is necessarily picking on you or singling you out because life has handed you another lesson.

ALL people go through learning experiences—but at different times, in different ways and at different speeds.

Some may appear ahead of you.

Some may appear behind you.

Some may never encounter the lesson you are facing.

Concentrate on your own learning curve. You may find your answers while also developing a better understanding of other people.

YOU LEARN WHEN YOU LEARN

I learned early in life that we are all in different places at different times.

Each person learns, absorbs, questions and responds differently.

Understanding this gave me more patience when I encountered people who had not experienced what I had experienced.

The reverse was also true.

I had not experienced everything they had experienced either.

Someone may understand money but know very little about relationships.

Another person may understand grief but struggle with forgiveness.

Someone may be professionally accomplished while still learning how to communicate.

Another may lack formal education but possess uncommon wisdom.

Different roads.

Different curves.

Different lessons.

RESIST THIS—and BEWARE

Resist the temptation to judge, argue with or dismiss someone merely because that person is not where you are.

This dynamic makes the rounds in marriages, friendships, families, businesses and relationships of every kind.

Ask yourself:

Who am I to judge another person’s entire life journey from the small portion I can see?

Life is far too complex for quick conclusions. We rarely know every experience, wound, limitation, fear or unanswered question another person carries.

The answer?

Have HUMILITY.

PAUSE FOR CAUSE before deciding that another person should already know what you know.

IF YOU MUST JUDGE

Make sure your judgment is righteous, truthful and fueled by love.

We all need correction, feedback, input and direction. However, our human default is often to resist, defend or excuse ourselves.

We can become our own enemy.

The ego, frequently protected by pride like an attack dog, stands guard and says:

  1. “How stupid.”
  2. “What a jerk.”
  3. “That is ridiculous.”
  4. “I would never have done that.”
  5. “They deserve what they get.”
  6. “They should know better.”

Maybe one of those conclusions is true.

Maybe it is not.

Either way, take a deeper and more loving second look.

Correction given without humility may become condemnation.

Correction given with truth and love may become help.

WORTHY PONDER

The rich may learn that money does not solve every problem, while the poor may believe money will solve them all.

Each viewpoint comes from a different place along the learning curve.

Here is another worthy ponder:

The person who says, “I can,” and the person who says, “I cannot,” may both prove themselves right.

What we believe influences what we attempt. What we attempt becomes part of what we learn.

“There but for the grace of God go I” applies to everyone.

WHAT WE KNOW

Life is a living experience that teaches us as we go.

It is filled with trial and error, refinement, testing, correction and discovery.

Our individual lifetimes may be new to us, but mankind has traveled these roads for a very long time.

Creation had the first say. It will have the final say—and plenty to say in between.

Mind this.

When we embrace life, life has a way of embracing us back. That encourages us to embrace it again.

And again.

And the learning continues.

FINAL THOUGHT

You do not have to understand every lesson immediately.

You do not have to travel at another person’s speed.

Remain willing, attentive and humble.

You learn when you learn—but you must remain willing to learn.

PEARLS INSIGHT (SEO)

A personal learning curve is the individual process through which we gain experience, develop patience, accept correction and grow in wisdom. Respecting different learning speeds helps reduce judgment, strengthen relationships and encourage lifelong personal growth.

PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS

A second chance often begins when a person recognizes that the story is not finished and the lesson has not been wasted.

That journey of realization, change and renewal is central to Epilogue of Ebenezer Scrooge: A Second Chance.

PEARLS CONNECTION

Consider one lesson life keeps placing in front of you.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening again?” try asking:

“What am I being given another opportunity to learn?”

The repeated lesson may not be punishment.

It may be preparation.

RICHIE SPEAKS

Your learning curve belongs to you.

Do not become discouraged because somebody appears farther ahead. You do not know where that person started, and you do not know what lesson may be waiting around the next curve.

Stay on your road.

Learn what you can.

Help where you can.

And keep moving.

FINAL SAY

Your personal highway will have curves, climbs, corrections and unexpected views.

Travel it with humility.

You learn when you learn—and so does everyone else.
