Sometimes the greatest lesson in life is not learning how to speak…

but learning how to see with a good dose of listening and observing.

Point of view is more than opinion.
It is position, perception, experience and perspective all meeting at once.

THE POWER OF POINT OF VIEW

The ability to see things from all sides, from a different perspective and even explore it makes point of view not appreciated or used enough.

Often another will point out their view, which we take as a chance to argue, but also miss a chance to adventure.

We don’t always have to resolve an issue right away, but in due time.

Why then don’t we capitalize on point of view?

ITSY BITSY SPIDER COMMENTS

Take the spider to illustrate the point.

They walk on walls, ceilings and floors.

When one spider was asked what they thought about a difficult issue, the spider responded:

“It depends on how you look at it.”

What can we learn here?

MIND MADE UP?

I know of some situations that have been predetermined thus making them oblivious to change.

However, if you want to win people over and at the very least not make an enemy, why not hear them out?

Often I have done this already set in my ways but realizing that I wasn’t being completely honest.

I was biased and had my mind made up while I listened.

CONSIDER THIS

To be able to hear someone explain or present something so that it can be fully understood may benefit all involved.

I don’t see how it can hurt.

Take another example:

In jury selection and subsequent deliberations, they are admonished to not make decisions until they are told, but be assured the temptation to do so is ever present.

That’s how strong point of view is.

WHO YOU VOTING FOR?

If you consider that all of us are in different places and times within our journey, then how can we be expected to all agree at any one point especially on certain subjects?

Take this example for instance:

Politics.

Yikes…and good luck nowadays trying to present any point of view on this subject.

Enough said.

THERE’S ONLY ONE WAY AND THIS IS IT?

Here’s another:

Religion.

Whoa…if you get into it with someone who swears by their way and will not entertain differently.

Why is this so touchy and explosive you have to wonder?

Does it trigger insecurity, vanity, pride, ego or how about just plain simple dynamics like:

“That’s my point of view. Find your own.”

HERE’S ANOTHER ONE

I once saw a guy go right to the sales window of a ticket event passing up everyone in line and purchasing tickets.

The people in line went ballistic.

The man argued while purchasing the tickets that there was no sign stating to wait in line anywhere.

Point of view…

Shrewd or rude tactics?

OH NO…NOT THIS

If you want to become a man or a mouse, a student or a teacher, a survivor or defeatist, marriage will offer up tons of points of view as part of the union.

It comes with the “I DO’S!”

Here, if you live long enough, you learn how many different ways there are to look at something and learn to like it too.

Lol…

C’mon…

LOL.

TELL IT TO THE JUDGE?

This one hits a bulls-eye right there and right then and turns into an owee right away.

A cop pulls you over and says in so many words…

“A ticket is coming.”

Well, is it any surprise how we want to shed light on another point of view as to what happened?

NO.

In fact, we insist.

Best efforts get us to traffic court.

I SEE THE LIGHT?

Then there is always the positive epiphany type way of seeing something that someone else points out and we become richer, better and inspired even having our eyes opened and gaining someone’s insight that we would have never seen for ourselves.

All you have to do is listen to stumble onto one of these.

WHO HIT FIRST?

Sometimes kids find themselves in a point-of-view dilemma, kids being kids.

The famous:

“Who started it?”

doesn’t matter as much as why.

The next thing you know, all involved are in trouble.

Of course each one has a different take, but the point is they are wrong for expressing it this way.

IF YOU DIDN’T DO THIS OR THAT…

Consider also the mysterious or mystical experience of someone who normally doesn’t do or go a certain way but because someone else interfered with their habit or routine, something either good or bad happens from it.

Who is to say?

One thing is for sure:

Cause and effect is at work and each has an explanation for it too.

REFRESHING IF WE AGREE

Point of view is so subjective.

One person finds something funny and another just doesn’t get it, even after it is explained.

Point of view is an attitude, judgment and stance and it can be on anything imagined too.

This is a very broad subject and seeing eye to eye with anyone is refreshing.

If you didn’t like this post…

I leave you with…

that’s your point of view and you may have it.
