A reasonable person can still change course.

An unreasonable one fights to protect the problem.

Even when the proof is staring back from the mirror.

Being reasonable is one of the greatest protections a human being can possess.

Why?

Because if there is a problem within us that we cannot yet see…

reason allows truth to approach us.

It allows correction to enter.

It allows adjustment, healing and redirection to occur before greater damage is done.

But unreasonable people resist this process entirely.

They defend the whole thing…
right or wrong.

And when life finally collapses around those choices, the first person they should consult with is the one staring back from the mirror.

PRIDE

Pride makes self-correction difficult.

Very difficult.

A prideful person struggles to admit error because pride exists largely to defend the ego at all costs.

Not the group.
Not fairness.
Not truth.

The self.

Pride wants the ego protected and enthroned like a little god ruling over everything.

That is why reason struggles to enter certain hearts.

THE BEST PART

But when a person becomes reasonable…

something beautiful happens.

Reason allows:
fairness,
understanding,
mercy,
balance,
and the benefit of the doubt
to seek their proper level.

And amazingly…

when YOU need fairness later in life, fairness often returns your way as well.

Reason tends to produce more reason.

There is something deeply human about recognizing what is right once we truly SEE it.

At that moment…

the best part of a person begins emerging.

BE WEARY OF THE FAST FIX

Most misery begins when people deny what they already know deep inside to be fair, true and right.

They override conscience for convenience.

Temporary gain.
Temporary power.
Temporary pleasure.

And for a moment it appears to work.

But appearances can deceive.

Many fast fixes create slow disasters.

SPOILED CHILD

We have all seen people who constantly get their own way when they should not.

Eventually an unhealthy aura forms around them.

A spoiled child comes to mind.

There is something unsettling about seeing innocence trained to believe:
“I should always get what I want.”

And when this dynamic fully matures in adults…

it becomes dangerous.

WIN AT ALL COSTS?

Greed looks ugly when viewed honestly.

Watching human beings fight viciously over power, possessions and control often resembles animals battling over scraps.

Politics demonstrates this constantly.

People willing to win at all costs rarely understand what they are truly losing in the process.

Character.
Peace.
Integrity.
Humanity.

These losses rarely appear on balance sheets.

REPENTANCE MEANS TO CHANGE

Thankfully there is hope.

A conscience still exists within most people.

And eventually…
if listened to…
it catches up.

Reason returns.
Justice speaks.
Regret enters.

And repentance — which simply means to change — becomes possible.

Then life offers something beautiful:

Another chance.

BE REASONABLE

Wherever passion and emotion exist, remember this carefully:

The sword cuts both ways.

So let fairness cut both ways too.

Allow reason to sit at the table.

Allow conscience to speak.

Allow humility to enter.

Then perhaps everyone receives a fair piece of the pie…

and all eat better because of it.

Did this speak to your heart or life journey?
