Most people spend years fighting their bodies.
Trying one diet after another.
The answer may not be eating less…
But understanding more.

Throughout our lives we hear the same words repeated over and over again.
Carbohydrates.
Proteins.
Fat.
We read about them.
Talk about them.
Avoid them.
Blame them.
Celebrate them.
Yet many people never fully understand the role they play in our lives.
I know I didn’t.
Not for many years.
WEIGHT…WEIGHT…GO AWAY…
AND PLEASE DON’T COME BACK ANOTHER DAY.
For those of us who have struggled with weight, energy levels, cravings, or simply feeling comfortable in our own skin, the search for answers can become exhausting.
One diet says avoid carbohydrates.
Another says avoid fat.
Another says eat all the protein you can find.
Then another comes along and says something completely different.
It becomes confusing.
Frustrating.
And often discouraging.
Most people have tried eating less.
Many have tried skipping meals.
Others have tried eliminating entire food groups.
Some succeed for a while.
Then life happens.
The weight returns.
The cravings return.
The cycle begins again.
AWARENESS WORKS.
That was one of the biggest lessons I learned.
Not willpower.
Not punishment.
Not deprivation.
Awareness.
When you become aware of what your body is actually asking for, everything begins to change.
The body is an amazing machine.
It constantly communicates.
It sends signals.
It gives feedback.
It tells us when something is working.
It tells us when something isn’t.
The challenge is that many of us have forgotten how to listen.
THE BODY TALKS ALL DAY LONG.
THE QUESTION IS…
ARE WE LISTENING?
As I wrote in Pearls for the Soul:
“The body is not your enemy. It is your oldest companion. Learn its language and it will serve you well.”
— Richie Naggar, Pearls for the Soul
One thing became clear to me.
The body requires all three major players.
Carbohydrates.
Proteins.
Fat.
Not one.
Not two.
All three.
The trick is discovering the combination that works best for you.
Because no two people are exactly alike.
What satisfies one person may leave another hungry.
What energizes one person may slow another down.
That is why comparison often fails.
You are not trying to become someone else.
You are trying to understand yourself.
FIND YOUR FORMULA.
That became my mission.
Through observation.
Experimentation.
Patience.
And paying attention.
I discovered that my body preferred protein first.
Then healthy fats.
Then carbohydrates.
Someone else may discover a different balance.
The important thing is not my formula.
The important thing is discovering yours.
PORTIONS MATTER.
Just as important as what you eat…
Is how much you eat.
This requires slowing down.
Paying attention.
Eating consciously.
Enjoying your food rather than racing through it.
The body often tells you when it has had enough.
Unfortunately, many people finish eating before the message arrives.
Slow down.
Listen.
Observe.
The answers are already there.
The body is incredibly intelligent.
It stores energy.
Protects organs.
Repairs tissues.
Regulates temperature.
Maintains balance.
And performs thousands of functions every second without asking your permission.
That deserves a little respect.
DISCOVER.
EXPERIMENT.
CHALLENGE YOURSELF.
Once you begin understanding what fuels your body properly, another door opens.
Movement.
Not punishment.
Not suffering.
Movement.
Walking.
Gardening.
Taking the stairs.
Working around the house.
Playing with grandchildren.
Climbing hills.
Swimming.
Living actively.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is consistency.
Small efforts repeated daily often outperform heroic efforts that last a week.
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
The body thrives on consistency.
The mind thrives on simplicity.
Life thrives on balance.
You do not have to become a nutrition expert.
You do not have to count every calorie.
You do not have to obsess over every meal.
You simply need to become more aware.
More observant.
More connected.
Learn what your body needs.
Learn what satisfies it.
Learn what energizes it.
Then honor that knowledge.
The body will reward you for it.
Health is not found in extremes.
It is found in understanding.
And understanding begins with awareness.
Command the Big Three.
Carbohydrates.
Proteins.
Fat.
Not by fighting them.
But by understanding them.
Once you do…
Your body will become one of your greatest allies.
