Something feels off.

Not quite right.

Not quite whole.

Many people spend their lives treating the symptoms…

Without ever discovering the thief.

Abnormal or unhealthy behavior.

Most of us have witnessed it.

Some of us have lived it.

Others have inherited it from environments that were less than ideal.

Homes filled with anger.

Criticism.

Neglect.

Control.

Fear.

Confusion.

What often emerges from such environments is something called dysfunctional behavior.

And it is far more common than people realize.

IT IS WIDESPREAD.

AND OFTEN INVISIBLE.

There is nothing to be ashamed of if you discover it within yourself.

In fact, recognizing it may be the beginning of your freedom.

The challenge is that dysfunctional behavior rarely announces itself.

It hides.

It disguises itself.

It convinces you that the problem is always somewhere else.

Someone else.

Anything else.

Yet deep inside there remains a quiet feeling.

A nagging sense that something is incomplete.

Something is unsettled.

Something is not quite right.

WE CAME INTO THIS WORLD INNOCENT.

No child is born resentful.

No child is born bitter.

No child is born cynical.

These things are learned.

Acquired.

Programmed.

Repeated.

Then reinforced.

Over time, what was learned becomes familiar.

What is familiar becomes normal.

And what becomes normal is rarely questioned.

That is how unhealthy patterns survive.

THE INTRUDER WITHIN.

Dysfunctional behavior often begins with a wound.

A disappointment.

A betrayal.

An injustice.

A trauma.

Something happened.

Something hurt.

Something was lost.

The event passes.

But the emotional residue remains.

Resentment becomes the glue that keeps the wound alive.

The mind revisits it.

The emotions replay it.

The story gets told over and over again.

Eventually the wound becomes part of the person’s identity.

YOUR PAIN IS REAL.

BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BECOME YOU.

You have every right to acknowledge what happened.

You have every right to recognize the injury.

You have every right to speak honestly about it.

What you do not have to do is build your life around it.

Many people unknowingly continue carrying yesterday’s wounds into today’s opportunities.

The past becomes a filter through which everything is viewed.

Relationships suffer.

Dreams suffer.

Joy suffers.

Peace suffers.

The thief keeps stealing.

YOU HAVE BEEN LED TO THIS MOMENT.

Awareness changes everything.

The moment you begin observing your own behavior honestly, something remarkable happens.

The spell weakens.

The illusion weakens.

The dysfunction loses some of its power.

Truth has a way of exposing what darkness works hard to conceal.

As I wrote in It Is Finished:

“What is brought into the light is stopped from ruling in the shadows.”

— Richie Naggar, It Is Finished

WE ALL RECEIVE THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR CHOICES.

Life has a built-in correction system.

Wrong choices produce consequences.

Healthy choices produce consequences too.

One brings unrest.

The other brings peace.

One narrows life.

The other expands it.

One imprisons.

The other liberates.

The soul seems designed to recognize the difference.

That is why guilt feels different than peace.

That is why resentment feels different than forgiveness.

That is why truth feels different than deception.

WHAT TO DO.

Do not run from dysfunctional behavior.

Do not deny it.

Do not hide it.

Do not pretend it is not there.

Observe it.

Expose it.

Bring it into the light.

Ask questions.

Listen carefully.

Seek truth.

Seek understanding.

Seek healing.

The purpose is not condemnation.

The purpose is freedom.

As I wrote in Pearls for the Soul:

“The truth does not arrive to punish you. It arrives to set you free.”

— Richie Naggar, Pearls for the Soul

RIGHT NOW.

Not tomorrow.

Not someday.

Not when conditions improve.

Begin now.

Choose awareness.

Choose honesty.

Choose healing.

Choose freedom.

The thief only succeeds while remaining hidden.

Once exposed, its power begins to fade.

I want you to be free.

I want you to be whole.

I want you to be well.

I want you to rediscover the innocence, peace, and joy that belonged to you from the beginning.

The journey starts with seeing clearly.

And the moment to begin…

Is now.
