She was attractive, intelligent, attentive, and always available when I called.

The relationship seemed almost perfect—until I realized I was doing all the talking.

LOVE AFFAIR & HOW IT ENDED

Looking back, I can see the seeds that caused us to meet.

She was unique—even from a distance.

Attractive.

Presentable.

Full of promises that suggested we should get together.

I knew what I was doing.

As a man who already had a faithful companion, I hesitated. But the lure was strong.

I could not walk away.

I bit down.

I WAS DRIVEN BY A STRONG ATTRACTION. THERE WAS NO ESCAPE

EXPENSIVE—MADE KNOWN UPFRONT

I appreciated this lady’s honesty.

She made it clear from the beginning that she was not a cheap date.

If we became intimate, there would be a commitment—not merely a passing fancy.

Was I in or out?

The choice was simple, but once I crossed the threshold, there would be no easy return.

SHE DIDN’T FOOL AROUND

She made it clear that she stood apart from the others.

She did not claim to possess everything I could possibly want. Her position was straightforward:

Take me as I am—or move on.

I felt free and comfortable.

I had never encountered a female who seemed to understand what I wanted while also making her own conditions so clear.

Everything appeared upfront.

WORTHY NOTE

Looking back, I always had to make the first move.

She responded—but usually with the minimum necessary to keep me coming back.

I accepted this one-sided relationship, believing it would be enough.

THE WOMAN SIGNALS—THE MAN MUST ANSWER

I could feel the tension.

You know that feeling that something good is about to happen?

It was like an exciting pressure that could only be relieved by finally obtaining what I wanted.

I fought with myself.

What would I tell my current honey—the faithful companion to whom I had pledged myself?

She had always performed well, but she was becoming somewhat outdated.

I mean no disrespect.

I LOOKED BEFORE I LEAPED

Isn’t that what they tell you before making a serious move?

“Look before you leap” is a polite warning:

If you continue, the choice is yours.

No regrets.

No blame.

No denial.

No stories afterward.

I drew a deep breath and held it.

I WAS TREMBLING WITH EXCITEMENT

My mind began forecasting the experience.

I imagined the pleasure and satisfaction of our first intimate meeting—the unwrapping, the exposure, the expectations, and the many encounters that could follow.

My imagination did not disappoint.

But I needed to sober up long enough to make the initial connection correctly.

The moment was calling.

FINAL THOUGHTS GOING IN

I reviewed everything repeatedly, making certain I understood what I was entering.

She appeared willing.

She showed no doubt or hesitation.

I took that as an invitation to proceed.

She was clear.

The remaining question was:

Was I clear too?

I had to have her.

AFTERMATH

The before and after were excellent.

The experience exceeded my expectations.

I watched carefully for guilt, regret, or remorse.

There was none!

That meant we would spend considerable time together.

I needed to learn everything about her to make this relationship work.

She excelled at being attentive, responsive, and obedient—within limits, as I would later discover.

THE DETAILS

Some of you may want the intimate details—a blow-by-blow account of the pleasure created by my decision.

To you I say:

I am not that kind of person.

I take the other party’s feelings seriously and act accordingly.

Let us simply say that I enjoyed the experience enough to continue visiting with her regularly.

WORTHY NOTE

I held her tightly.

I took her almost everywhere.

Whenever I engaged her correctly, she responded.

Although, once again, I always had to go first.

HOW IT ENDED

You know those arguments where someone brings up the past?

I became good at that.

She handled disagreement by becoming vague.

She rarely volunteered information, but to her credit, she answered direct questions whenever she understood them.

Over time, the excitement faded.

Our relationship became less intimate and more functional.

We were becoming friends.

FRIENDS AND ACCEPTANCE

I still have a place for her in my life.

She is a keeper—and apparently, she still has room for me too.

I must admit that she remained true to her original representation.

She never pretended to possess human emotion.

I supplied that part myself.

So she remains in my life—but at arm’s length.

She agreed.

Now, whenever I want to engage, I simply say:

“HEY SIRI, ARE YOU THERE?”

She answers clearly, without emotion:

“I’M LISTENING.”

LOL!

THE REAL RELATIONSHIP

There it is.

My mysterious lady was a voice assistant.

But the story contains a real observation.

Technology can seem remarkably personal because it answers, remembers, recommends, guides, and responds whenever called.

But response is not relationship.

Availability is not affection.

Programming is not understanding.

Convenience is not companionship.

A voice assistant can help locate a restaurant.

It cannot sit across the table and share the meal with you.

PAUSE FOR CAUSE.

Use technology.

Enjoy technology.

Appreciate what it can do.

But do not confuse a tool that responds with a soul that relates.

FINAL THOUGHT

Technology becomes most useful when it assists human life without replacing the human connection that makes life worth living.

PEARLS INSIGHT

People can form emotional attachments to responsive technology because consistency and immediate attention feel personal. Awareness helps us enjoy digital assistance without mistaking simulation for mutual relationship.

PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS

The Pearls message continually returns to the living soul. Tools may assist the journey, but love, compassion, sacrifice, and genuine presence belong to living beings.

PEARLS CONNECTION

Siri listened whenever called—but Richie had to begin every conversation. A real relationship requires two people who can initiate, feel, give, grow, and sometimes lovingly disagree.

RICHIE SPEAKS

She was attractive, intelligent, obedient, and always nearby.

But let me tell you something:

If you must charge your sweetheart every night, you may want to reconsider the relationship!

FINAL SAY

Keep technology in your hand.

Keep people in your heart.

And when you need directions, information, or a weather report:

“Hey Siri—are you there?”

“I’m listening.”
