We sometimes travel great distances searching for what was waiting nearby.
Before chasing another horizon, look again.
Your next portion may be right under your nose.
Every want or need begins somewhere within the mind and self.
From there, some desires grow legs and send us out to fetch what is required.
Other answers remain close at hand, waiting to be recognized.
We can accomplish many things, but one little-known dynamic often complicates the system:
YOU.
That’s right.

When we unnecessarily complicate something, it becomes harder to approach, receive or complete.
Remove the drama where drama is not required.
Make it E-Z-P-Z—nice and breezy.
LET’S NOT OVERSTATE OR UNDERSTATE
In everyday language:
Do not make a federal case out of everything.
Getting, receiving, sharing and having can work naturally, but we sometimes become obstacles to our own progress.
Perhaps we lack awareness.
Perhaps we have not yet taken ownership.
Perhaps we are still developing the skill or mastery required.
Most importantly, perhaps we have not started.
The opportunity to grow cannot begin working until we meet it somewhere.
SOME THINGS REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION
Simplicity does not mean everything is effortless.
Certain goals require focus, education, preparation and repeated practice.
When something keeps becoming difficult, perhaps the answer is not to quit or force it harder.
Perhaps there is something to learn.
That is a proper use of your talents, skills and abilities:
Train for what you want.
Develop the capacity to manage it.
Prepare yourself to receive and keep it.
When will it arrive?
That part may remain unknown.
Some things come in due time—or when time is due.
IMPATIENCE
You may want it now.
But some things have their own NOW.
A seed cannot be argued into becoming tomorrow’s tree this afternoon.
We may need to learn, assist and modify our part while the larger process develops.
Do what belongs to you.
Allow time to do what belongs to time.
If the portion is genuinely yours, impatience will not improve it.
Relax enough to recognize it when it comes.
GREED
Greed can produce results—but usually requires extra effort, and not all of that effort is good.
Greed presents itself as a friend while behaving like an addiction.
Enough becomes more.
More becomes everything.
“Just because you can” is not the same as “you should.”
Greed whispers:
“Do whatever it takes.”
Anything goes?
No.
If obtaining something costs your honesty, peace, health or soul, the price has exceeded the value.
PREPARE A PLACE
Prepare a place within yourself to receive life’s bounty and lessons.
Then do what is necessary, honest and permitted.
Develop patience.
Clear unnecessary clutter.
Strengthen the skills required to care for what arrives.
Because you made room, certain things may come with less struggle than expected.
We call those blessings.
But even a blessing needs somewhere to land.
THE FARM & THE GOLD
There is an old story about a man who owned a modest farm.
He was doing reasonably well but kept hearing about people in faraway places striking it rich.
“Go West, young man.”
Gold rush.
Instant fortune.
The farmer became tired of his slow, steady results. He sold the land and went searching for riches.
He found nothing.
His money disappeared.
Then he learned that gold had been discovered on the property he sold.
The treasure had been there all along.
Unfortunately, the farmer was not.
WORTHY NOTE: Sometimes the opportunity is missing. Other times, we are missing from the opportunity already beneath our feet.
YOUR PORTION IS ALSO MOVING
As you move honestly toward your portion, something may also be moving toward you.
That does not mean every wish will be granted or every person will receive the same material outcome.
It means preparation, awareness and ethical effort make us more capable of recognizing and receiving what fits our journey.
Opportunity exists.
So do limitations, timing and circumstances.
Work with reality—not fantasy.
Let gratitude keep your eyes open.
GET RICH QUICK
The lottery, illegal dealings, theft and shortcuts may appear to produce fast money.
But they carry enormous risks to body, mind, freedom and soul.
Prisons are filled with people who believed they could take the shortcut without paying the toll.
“It won’t happen to me.”
HA!
LOL.
The shortcut becomes very long when it passes through regret, fear and consequences.
NEED VS. WANT
Some people buy what they do not need, hoard what they will not use, waste what they purchase and then repeat the cycle.
A momentary want disguises itself as an emergency.
The product comes home, but satisfaction does not.
When we bring balance to wanting and needing, we own these systems instead of allowing them to own us.
Ask:
Do I need it?
Will I use it?
Can I afford it?
What am I actually hoping this purchase will make me feel?
A proper question can save money—and storage space.
PAUSE FOR CAUSE
Before searching for more, inventory what is already present.
You may discover resources, relationships, abilities and opportunities hiding beneath familiarity.
DON’T YOU SEE?
We are already rich in one enormous respect:
We received a turn at life.
The Life-giver wants us to prosper in the deepest sense—to live, grow, enjoy, contribute and share.
Prosperity is more than accumulation.
It includes honor.
Honesty.
Gratitude.
Peace.
Purpose.
A person may possess much and remain poor within.
Another may live modestly while carrying treasures that money cannot purchase.
PEARLS INSIGHT
Familiarity can hide value.
When we constantly search elsewhere, we may overlook the abilities, relationships and opportunities already available to us. Gratitude is not passive satisfaction; it is a form of awareness that reveals resources hidden in plain sight.
RICHIE SPEAKS
Before selling the farm, inspect the ground.
Before chasing the horizon, check the room.
Before declaring yourself empty-handed, open both hands and look again.
It may be E-Z-P-Z, nice and breezy.
FINAL SAY
Want—but do not let wanting own you.
Prepare—but do not attempt to force the season.
Work honestly.
Receive gratefully.
Share generously.
What you truly need may require a journey.
But it may also be nearby, familiar and overlooked.
Look again.
It may be right under your nose.
