Success does not always arrive the same way.

Sometimes opportunity finds you.

Sometimes you have to go looking for it.

Either way…

you have to be out there living before anything can happen.

Success can be a formula made up of many different things coming together.

Destiny.

Luck.

Fate.

Skills.

Timing.

Opportunity.

And one of my favorites…

a little help from your friends.

LOL.

All of these can contribute to that golden carrot we call SUCCESS.

But what exactly is success?

That is where things get interesting.

Because success does not mean the same thing to everybody.

For one person, success is money.

For another, health.

For another, love.

For somebody else, peace.

Freedom.

Family.

Purpose.

A good night’s sleep.

That means success is personal.

And one thing is certain:

You have to be OUT THERE participating in life for success to have any chance of finding you.

LOVE

Love is one of those things that can come to you…

or you may have to go toward it.

But before all of that, there is another kind of love that people often forget.

LOVE OF SELF.

Not pride.

Not selfishness.

Not arrogance.

I am talking about worth.

Character.

Respect.

Well-being.

Being comfortable enough with yourself that you do not need another person to complete what was never missing.

When you respect yourself, you begin treating other people differently too.

You do not cling.

You do not beg.

You do not demand.

You simply have something real to give.

From there, love has somewhere healthy to land.

WEALTH

Wealth is another interesting goody.

People need to PAUSE around that word.

Money can solve certain problems.

Absolutely.

But it does not solve ALL problems.

Sometimes wealth even becomes a distraction from the peace somebody was looking for in the first place.

More possessions.

More responsibility.

More maintenance.

More comparison.

More to protect.

LOL.

That is why wealth needs perspective.

Money can create options.

But options are not automatically happiness.

Material things can be enjoyable.

But they are still things.

Do not confuse having more…

with BEING more.

HEALTH

Health is a major form of wealth too.

And this is where we are all given a body to work with.

Some bodies cooperate easier than others.

Some face challenges.

Some require more attention.

But the basic principle remains:

Take care of what you have.

Feed it.

Move it.

Rest it.

Hydrate it.

Pay attention to it.

The human body is an amazing piece of equipment.

It can put up with quite a bit.

But just because it CAN tolerate abuse…

does not mean we should keep testing the warranty.

LOL.

When you cooperate with your body, it usually responds.

HEALTH is one of those forms of success people appreciate much more when it is threatened.

That alone tells you its true value.

HAPPINESS

Happiness is a great word.

But try defining it.

Now things become subjective.

What makes me happy may bore you.

What excites you may exhaust me.

That is why knowing yourself matters.

You cannot define happiness properly without knowing WHO is experiencing it.

Who is the “I” in:

“I am happy”?

What does that person value?

What creates contentment?

What gives peace?

What feels natural?

Happiness may not always be excitement.

Sometimes happiness is simply:

“I am content.”

That may be one of the richest statements a human being can make.

RICHIE SPEAKS

Here is one Richie rule:

If you do not know what success means to YOU…

the world will gladly define it for you.

LOL.

And another:

Some things knock on the door.

Other things require you to put your shoes on and go looking.

Either way…

ANSWER LIFE.

APPRECIATION

This may be the piece that ties everything together.

Appreciation.

Love.

Wealth.

Health.

Happiness.

Opportunity.

They all become more valuable when you actually NOTICE them.

Some things will come your way without much effort.

Others will require pursuit.

Some will surprise you.

Some will make you work.

Some will disappear and come back later.

But whatever arrives…

appreciate it.

Success is not only getting what you wanted.

It is also recognizing what you already have.

PEARLS INSIGHT

Success is deeply personal and is often built from many parts rather than one single achievement.

Love, health, wealth, happiness, opportunity, relationships, and self-respect all contribute differently depending on the individual.

A meaningful life requires both openness to what arrives and willingness to pursue what matters.

PEARLS CONNECTION

This connects with many Pearls themes:

SKILLS BANK reminds us to use what is naturally within us.

LEARN TO ACCEPT SUCCESS reminds us not to run from what we worked for.

THE SIMPLICITY OF IT ALL reminds us to enjoy the journey while moving toward the goal.

And this Pearl adds:

Some things come.

Some things must be pursued.

Wisdom is knowing which is which.

FINAL THOUGHT

Life has a strange way of meeting us halfway.

Sometimes the door opens.

Sometimes you have to knock.

Sometimes the opportunity appears.

Sometimes you have to create it.

Sometimes love finds you.

Sometimes you have to become ready to receive it.

Whatever comes your way…

appreciate it.

Whatever matters enough to pursue…

GO GET IT.

Success is not merely catching the golden carrot.

It is becoming the kind of person who knows what is worth chasing…

and what is already worth appreciating.
