Most people spend their lives chasing one of these.
The wise seek all four.
But only one has the power to bring the others to life.

Many years ago, I worked for a man who became one of my greatest teachers.
When I met him, he was 73 years old.
When I left his employment, he was 84.
He had already traveled roads I had yet to discover.
He had made mistakes.
Accumulated wisdom.
Watched people succeed.
Watched people fail.
One day he shared an observation that has stayed with me ever since.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION…
He told me that fully experiencing life required four essential ingredients.
Each was important.
Each had value.
Yet one stood above the others.
A FORMULA FOR LIVING
TIME
Time is the great equalizer.
Every person receives it.
The rich receive it.
The poor receive it.
The famous receive it.
The unknown receive it.
You cannot save it.
You cannot borrow it.
You cannot manufacture more of it.
You can only spend it.
Time waits for no one.
Spend it wisely and it rewards you.
Waste it and it disappears forever.
As I often remind people:
You can always make more money.
You can never make more yesterday.
HEALTH
Health is the vehicle that carries us through life.
Without it, even simple tasks become difficult.
A healthy body allows us to explore.
To serve.
To work.
To love.
To contribute.
To experience life more fully.
People often take their health for granted until something happens.
Then suddenly they understand its value.
Protect it.
Respect it.
Invest in it.
Your body has been serving you faithfully since the day you arrived.
MONEY
Money is neither good nor evil.
It is a tool.
A ladder.
A resource.
It allows access to experiences, opportunities, and solutions that may otherwise remain out of reach.
Money can smooth rough roads.
It can create comfort.
It can solve certain problems.
But it cannot create peace.
It cannot create character.
It cannot create purpose.
I have met wealthy people who were miserable.
I have met people of modest means who were joyful.
Money is useful.
But it is not supreme.
ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL
DESIRE
Here is the big one.
The king of the mountain.
The engine behind everything.
Without desire…
Time means little.
Health gets neglected.
Money becomes meaningless.
Desire is the force that gets you out of bed.
It is the reason people climb mountains.
Write books.
Start businesses.
Raise families.
Fight diseases.
Learn new skills.
Start over.
Keep going.
Desire is life reaching forward.
The moment desire leaves, something precious leaves with it.
As I wrote in Pearls for the Soul:
“The spirit of a person is known by what they continue to pursue.”
Desire is what turns existence into living.
WHEN ALL FOUR COME TOGETHER
Imagine having time but no health.
Health but no desire.
Money but no purpose.
Desire but no time.
Each scenario feels incomplete.
Now imagine having all four working together.
Time to pursue.
Health to participate.
Money to maneuver.
Desire to inspire.
That combination becomes powerful.
That combination becomes meaningful.
That combination becomes life in motion.
WHAT THEN?
Take inventory.
How are you doing with your time?
How are you doing with your health?
How are you doing with your resources?
Most importantly…
What still stirs your desire?
What still excites you?
What still calls your name?
Protect that.
Feed that.
Honor that.
Because when desire is healthy and pointed toward what is good, true, meaningful, and worthwhile…
The rest begin lining up.
My old boss was right.
The four essentials matter.
But one rules them all.
DESIRE.
And may you never lose yours.
