Twenty-five years sounds like a long time…
until you’ve lived twenty-five years.
Then you look back and ask:
WHERE DID THAT GO?

That is why some things are worth understanding NOW.
When a person is coming of age…
they usually want the process to SPEED UP.
Come on already.
Let me:
drive,
work,
earn,
travel,
date,
decide,
discover,
and finally become ME.
Then something happens.
Time starts moving at normal speed…
and we stop noticing it.
We get busy.
Trial and error.
Work.
Relationships.
Bills.
Plans.
Distractions.
Then one day…
an awareness of TIME walks into the room.
THAT COST YOU TWENTY-FIVE YEARS
You discover:
YOU ARE NOT IN YOUR TWENTIES ANYMORE.
Where did that go?
Then your thirties come and go.
Then your forties.
And so on.
LOL.
Time does not negotiate.
It does not slow down because:
you were confused,
you were busy,
you were having fun,
or you intended to get around to something later.
Time is no respecter of persons.
Everybody gets a day.
Then everybody spends it.
PAUSE FOR CAUSE.
You are spending today whether you realize it or not.
THE BREVITY OF LIFE
There is another realization that comes later.
The brevity of life.
Just about the time you begin understanding:
yourself,
people,
money,
relationships,
health,
work,
and what really matters…
you also begin noticing how quickly the calendar moved while you were learning it.
Interesting arrangement.
LOL.
Wisdom tends to arrive AFTER tuition has been paid.
That makes the earlier years valuable.
Not because you need every answer when young.
You won’t have them.
But because you can begin investing in things that age well.
INVEST IN WHAT COMPOUNDS
Some things get more valuable with time.
Knowledge.
Skill.
Health.
Friendship.
Character.
Savings.
Experience.
Reputation.
Those are worth starting early.
Why?
Because twenty-five years of steady investment in something meaningful can produce a completely different life than twenty-five years of putting everything off.
That does not mean every life follows a neat formula.
It does not.
But direction matters.
EDUCATION…IN MORE THAN ONE FORM
College can be valuable.
For many people it provides:
knowledge,
credentials,
networking,
exposure to ideas,
and personal growth.
But I would broaden my original thought here.
Education does not only mean:
FOUR-YEAR DEGREE.
It may mean:
trade school,
technical training,
certifications,
apprenticeship,
military training,
professional development,
or serious self-education.
The real point?
BUILD CAPACITY.
Spend some of your early years becoming more capable.
That investment can travel with you for decades.
FOUND MONEY…OR BUILT VALUE?
Real Estate is another example.
Owning property can build equity over time.
But I would tighten my old wording here too.
Real Estate is not guaranteed profit.
Markets rise.
Markets fall.
Costs matter.
Maintenance matters.
Financing matters.
Location matters.
Timing matters.
I learned some of that the HARD way.
LOL.
Still…
when ownership fits the person’s finances and goals…
a home or investment property can become a long-term asset.
The larger principle is this:
BUILD SOMETHING THAT CAN OUTLAST THE PAYCHECK.
That might be:
property,
retirement savings,
investments,
a business,
or other assets.
Twenty-five years gives compounding time to work.
KEEPING COMPANY
Friends matter too.
Maybe more than people realize when young.
There is something valuable about having people who remember:
where you started,
what you went through,
who you were,
and how you changed.
You share history.
You compare notes.
You laugh at things nobody else would understand.
LOL.
Good friendships can become part of the emotional wealth of a life.
But they require maintenance too.
Call.
Visit.
Show up.
Listen.
Do not assume people will simply remain because you once knew each other.
Friendship also compounds.
HEALTH IS AN EARLY INVESTMENT TOO
Here is one I would add strongly.
Health.
When young…
the body can forgive quite a bit.
You can:
eat badly,
sleep poorly,
skip exercise,
overwork,
and somehow still get up tomorrow.
That can create a dangerous illusion.
The body is forgiving.
It is not unlimited.
Twenty-five years of:
movement,
reasonable eating,
sleep,
preventive care,
and basic respect for the body
can matter enormously later.
You do not need to become obsessed.
Just do not neglect the vehicle you are planning to travel in.
LOL.
CHARACTER COMPOUNDS
This may be the most important investment.
Character.
Tell the truth.
Keep your word.
Show up.
Admit mistakes.
Treat people well.
Do that for twenty-five years…
and something forms.
A reputation.
A pattern.
A GOOD NAME.
Do the opposite for twenty-five years…
and something forms there too.
That is why the little daily choices matter.
People think life changes through giant decisions.
Sometimes.
But often…
life is shaped by small repeated decisions nobody applauds.
CHANGE IS CONSTANT
Live long enough and you will watch the world recycle itself.
What was old becomes fashionable.
What was modern becomes obsolete.
Neighborhoods change.
Technology changes.
Business changes.
Language changes.
People change.
The place you grew up may no longer resemble the place in your memory.
That is normal.
Life moves.
Molecules do not sit still…
and neither does society.
So do not build your identity entirely around:
the way things used to be.
Learn.
Adapt.
Carry forward what is worth keeping.
Release what no longer fits.
THE TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR CHECK
Here is a useful exercise.
Imagine yourself twenty-five years from today.
Now look backward at YOU…
sitting here today.
What would that future version of you wish you had started?
Maybe:
saving?
exercising?
learning?
writing?
traveling?
repairing a relationship?
starting a business?
finishing school?
spending more time with family?
Good question.
Because you are standing at the beginning of somebody else’s memory.
YOUR OWN.
LOL.
THE THINGS MONEY CANNOT BUY BACK
Time has another interesting quality.
You can replace money.
You can replace a car.
You can replace furniture.
You can rebuild a business.
You cannot purchase:
your child’s fifth birthday again.
Your parents at a certain age.
A friendship before distance entered.
Your own younger body.
A particular summer.
That moment is spent.
This is not meant to make us sad.
It is meant to make us PRESENT.
Use the moment while you own it.
YOU ONLY GET SO MUCH…WHATEVER THAT IS
Nobody knows their total number.
That alone should get our attention.
You receive:
days,
years,
decades.
How many?
Unknown.
So I sliced time into twenty-five-year periods simply to make something visible.
Twenty-five years is enough time to:
build,
learn,
love,
lose,
recover,
change,
and become almost another version of yourself.
What it adds up to?
That is where your participation matters.
No one controls every outcome.
But everyone influences the direction.
DO NOT WAIT FOR THE PERFECT PLAN
This is another trap.
Some people lose years trying to decide exactly how to live them.
LOL.
You do not need a twenty-five-year master plan.
Start with:
WHAT MATTERS?
Then:
WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT TODAY?
That is enough.
One course.
One deposit.
One walk.
One call.
One honest conversation.
One application.
One page written.
Small beginnings become large timelines.
RICHIE SPEAKS
Here is one Richie rule:
Twenty-five years is a long time looking forward…
and a very short time looking backward.
Another:
Do not wait until wisdom arrives to start investing in what wisdom will eventually tell you mattered.
And one more:
You are spending today whether you planned to or not.
Spend it on purpose.
PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS
From the spirit of Pearls for the Soul:
“Time reveals the value of what we repeatedly choose to build.”
From the spirit of God I AM:
“The present is where preparation for the future is actually performed.”
From the spirit of It Is Finished:
“Do not carry yesterday so heavily that you fail to invest in what tomorrow will need.”
PEARLS INSIGHT
Long time horizons magnify repeated choices.
Over twenty-five years, relatively small habits involving:
learning,
saving,
health,
relationships,
and character
can produce substantial cumulative effects.
That does not mean every outcome is controllable.
Life includes:
luck,
loss,
economics,
health events,
and other people’s decisions.
The useful question is not:
CAN I CONTROL TWENTY-FIVE YEARS?
You cannot.
It is:
WHAT CAN I BEGIN TODAY THAT FUTURE ME IS LIKELY TO VALUE?
That question has practical power.
PEARLS CONNECTION
This connects directly with YOUR LIFE JOURNEY BREAKS DOWN TO THIS…TIME-HEALTH-MONEY-DESIRE.
Those resources travel together over a lifetime.
It also connects with THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER…INTIMACY RESIDES THERE.
Twenty-five years are made from ordinary days.
And PLACE ALL YOUR MONEY ON THIS…INVEST IN YOURSELF reminds us that the one asset traveling through every decade is YOU.
FINAL SAY
Twenty-five years will fly by.
Guaranteed.
Not because time speeds up.
Because looking backward compresses it.
One day you will say:
THAT WAS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO?
Yes.
LOL.
So begin now.
Build knowledge.
Protect health.
Develop skills.
Save something.
Own something when it makes sense.
Keep good people close.
Build a good name.
Enjoy the ordinary days.
And do not become so focused on preparing for the future…
that you forget to LIVE the present.
That would miss the whole point.
You do not need to control the next twenty-five years.
Just respect that they are coming.
And that the choices you make today…
will be waiting there when you arrive.
Make them COUNT.
