Think about it.

Every challenge.

Every setback.

Every fear.

Every storm.

Yet here you are.

You made it to this moment.

Are you a “moment” person?

Or are you always chasing something just beyond your reach?

The next promotion.

The next relationship.

The next vacation.

The next possession.

The next achievement.

The next reason to finally be happy.

Many people spend their entire lives running toward tomorrow while completely overlooking today.

That is unfortunate.

Because today is where life actually happens.

ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Take inventory of yourself right now.

Not yesterday.

Not next year.

Right now.

How are you doing?

If you are reading these words, I would say you are doing better than you think.

You have survived things that once terrified you.

Remember?

Those moments when you thought:

“I don’t know how I am going to get through this.”

Yet somehow…

You did.

SO FAR…
SO GOOD.

Life has a funny way of proving us wrong.

Our fears often predict disaster.

Reality frequently delivers something else.

When I was growing up in Brooklyn, New York, hopping from rooftop to rooftop was simply part of being a kid.

The buildings were separated by gaps that today would make me stop and think.

Back then?

I didn’t think.

I just leaped.

One slip could have changed everything.

Yet here I am.

I made it through.

RAISING KIDS AND GOING GREY.

Anyone who has raised children knows the feeling.

One moment they are toddlers.

The next they are climbing things they shouldn’t climb.

Driving things they shouldn’t drive.

Dating people you are not sure about.

Making decisions that keep parents awake at night.

In those moments it can feel overwhelming.

You wonder how everyone is going to get through it.

Then years pass.

The children grow.

The lessons arrive.

Life unfolds.

And somehow…

Everyone makes it farther than they imagined.

My children are fine.

I’m still here.

Life moved forward.

OK…
THIS IS NOT GOOD.

People lose jobs.

Lose homes.

Lose savings.

Lose relationships.

Lose plans.

Lose certainty.

At the time it feels devastating.

It feels final.

It feels impossible.

Yet history teaches otherwise.

Human beings are remarkably resilient.

We adapt.

We rebuild.

We begin again.

Some of life’s greatest chapters begin immediately after a chapter we never wanted to end.

CHANGE COMES IN MANY FORMS.

I have never believed we were placed here to be defeated.

Challenged?

Yes.

Refined?

Absolutely.

Strengthened?

Without question.

But defeated?

No.

The difficulties that enter our lives are often opportunities wearing work clothes.

The question becomes:

Will this circumstance make you bitter?

Or better?

The choice belongs to us.

I AM HERE…
RIGHT NOW…
WITH YOU.

I have traveled a long road.

You have too.

Some people sprint through life.

Others crawl.

Some appear lost.

Others appear certain.

Yet all of us are fellow travelers.

All of us are trying to make sense of this remarkable journey.

Perhaps the greatest wisdom is not found in arriving somewhere else.

Perhaps it is found in appreciating where we already are.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

If you wait for all problems to disappear before being grateful, you may wait forever.

There will always be another concern.

Another challenge.

Another uncertainty.

Another “what if.”

The mind is very creative when it comes to manufacturing worries.

Do not let it steal today from you.

The future will arrive when it arrives.

Today deserves your attention.

THE ANSWER IS NOW.

How far we have come is not the question.

How far we have to go is not the question.

The question is:

Can we appreciate this moment?

Can we recognize the miracle of being here?

Can we honor the fact that against all odds, through every challenge, setback, mistake, heartbreak, and obstacle…

We made it.

You made it.

I made it.

We are here.

And this moment is enough.

For now.

Take a breath.

Look around.

Be grateful.

Life has brought you this far.

And that is no small thing.
