Most people want to rise.
To improve.
To prosper.
To see what they are capable of.
The real question is:
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE CLIMB GETS STEEP?
For many people, it begins somewhere after high school.
That inner push starts saying:
GET AHEAD.
DO BETTER.
BUILD SOMETHING.
MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF.

You begin collecting:
knowledge,
experience,
ideas,
beliefs,
plans,
and a little confidence.
Then one day…
you decide to launch.
You take what you know…
what you learned…
what you believe…
and put it into motion.
Now the journey gets interesting.
RESISTANCE = GROWTH
Resistance will come.
Guaranteed.
Sometimes that resistance means something is wrong.
But many times…
it simply means you are growing.
New territory creates friction.
A stronger muscle needs resistance.
A stronger mind does too.
The problem is that people sometimes interpret resistance as:
STOP.
QUIT.
TURN AROUND.
Maybe.
But not always.
PAUSE FOR CAUSE.
Some resistance is not a wall.
It is a TEST.
A question.
HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT THIS?
Many dreams die right there.
Not because they were impossible…
but because the person expected movement without resistance.
That rarely happens.
PHOOEY ON YOU-EE
Then comes another kind of resistance.
PEOPLE.
LOL.
You tell somebody what you want to do.
Their response?
“Don’t do that.”
“That won’t work.”
“That’s too risky.”
“You aren’t qualified.”
“Who do you think you are?”
There it is.
PHOOEY ON YOU-EE.
Now…
do not reject every piece of criticism simply because you dislike it.
Good advice is valuable.
Facts matter.
Experience matters.
But once you have:
listened,
researched,
thought,
tested,
and made a sound decision…
do not surrender your direction merely because somebody else cannot see your vision.
They are not required to.
It is YOUR climb.
KNOCKED DOWN…GET-UP PROCESS
Then come the blows you did not schedule.
Money problems.
Wrong timing.
A failed attempt.
A bad decision.
A competitor.
A lost opportunity.
An illness.
A surprise.
Something can knock you flat.
Fine.
What now?
GET UP.
That sounds simple…
because it is simple.
Not necessarily easy.
But simple.
The ability to rise after being knocked down may be more important than the ability to avoid every fall.
Everybody gets hit by something eventually.
The difference is what happens NEXT.
COUNTER-FORCES EXIST
For every obstacle, begin looking for the counter-force.
Lack knowledge?
LEARN.
Lack money?
ADJUST.
Lack skill?
TRAIN.
Wrong approach?
CHANGE IT.
Rejected?
TRY ANOTHER DOOR.
Tired?
REST.
Confused?
ASK.
There is often another move available.
The determined person keeps looking for it.
That is not blind optimism.
It is active problem solving.
THE CLIMB CHANGES YOU
Something else happens while you are climbing.
You change.
The person who started at the bottom…
is not the same person who reaches halfway.
You become:
stronger,
wiser,
more selective,
more patient,
more capable.
Sometimes the climb becomes more valuable than the original goal.
You thought you were building:
a career,
a business,
an income,
a reputation.
Meanwhile…
the journey was building YOU.
That may be the larger payoff.
KEEP YOUR EYES UP
When things get difficult…
people tend to stare at the obstacle.
Understandable.
But eventually…
look up.
Remember why you started.
Remember what the higher ground represents.
You do not need to see the entire mountain.
You need enough vision to take the next step.
One ledge.
One foothold.
One decision.
One day.
Then repeat.
THE PAY-OFF
At some point…
if the path is right and you remain capable of continuing…
you may reach the place you were aiming for.
The pinnacle.
The promotion.
The business.
The degree.
The home.
The mastery.
The result.
And when you arrive…
you will know.
Not only because of what you gained…
but because of what it took to get there.
That view feels different when you climbed for it.
YOU PAID FOR THE VIEW
This is what people forget.
Achievement has a price.
Time.
Effort.
Failure.
Embarrassment.
Risk.
Learning.
Patience.
Persistence.
You paid along the way.
And when the result finally arrives…
the journey gives the result meaning.
That is why easy rewards sometimes feel light.
You did not climb enough to understand the view.
RICHIE SPEAKS
Here is one Richie rule:
Do not confuse resistance with rejection.
Another:
Getting knocked down is an event.
Staying down becomes a decision.
And one more:
The mountain does not ask whether you deserve the top.
It asks whether you are willing to keep climbing.
PEARLS FROM THE BOOKS
From the spirit of Pearls for the Soul:
“The climb does more than move you upward; it builds the person capable of standing there.”
From the spirit of God I AM:
“What calls you higher may also require that you become stronger on the way.”
From the spirit of It Is Finished:
“Release the obstacle after it has taught you what the next move requires.”
PEARLS INSIGHT
Growth frequently creates resistance because new goals demand:
new skills,
new habits,
new relationships,
new decisions,
and greater tolerance for uncertainty.
Persistence does not mean ignoring reality.
Effective persistence combines:
determination,
feedback,
adaptation,
and continued movement.
The objective is not simply to endure every obstacle.
It is to distinguish between:
a challenge to overcome,
a lesson to learn,
and a signal that the strategy needs changing.
PEARLS CONNECTION
This connects directly with STEP BY STEP YOU WILL PREVAIL…TRUE LIFE STORY.
No mountain is climbed in one move.
It also connects with GOING AND GETTING PAST THE QUITTING STAGE.
Resistance often appears exactly where commitment gets tested.
And WHEN YOUR BEST IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH reminds us that climbing higher may require building greater capability along the way.
FINAL SAY
Most of us want to rise.
Climb.
Improve.
Get ahead.
Good.
Then expect a climb.
Expect resistance.
Expect somebody to doubt you.
Expect a few wrong turns.
Expect to get knocked down.
Then…
GET UP.
Learn.
Adjust.
Climb again.
Do not chase the top merely for status.
Let the journey build:
strength,
character,
judgment,
and skill.
Then when you finally reach your higher ground…
you will understand something.
The reward was not only reaching the top.
The reward was becoming the person capable of getting there.
The journey…
and the price paid for it…
was worth it.
